Today is a huge win for creatives around the world, as Australia makes it clear it will not bow to pressure from AI companies to legalise the theft of creatives’ work.
From the Australian Prime Minister:
"No company should use Australian books, music, art or news to build or train AI without the artist’s control.
That includes the artist’s control of the price and value of their work.
Anything less, is theft."
Strong, principled words that should serve as a model for governments everywhere.

the problem with AI isn't just that it's ugly and lazy, it's indicative of a culture uncaring about everything. you have to care about something. you have to care about what you're putting out in the world. you have to make effort somewhere so people can perceive it.
@brainage19 But it’s a different analogy.
You cannot equate physical labour with cognitive.
And different trades are not equal either.
Different concepts and different purposes…
@brainage19 Most trades still use hammers, and bricks are still laid by hand. Even though robot brick layers have existed for decades.
But there are more efficient ways to build walls than laying millions of bricks to build a sky scraper…
@heuristics@philthistweet When you need to care about high performance, compiler binary output is absolutely a critical part of that understanding.
Compilers are not as reliable as people think.
@philthistweet Code is essentially a form of mathematical as in formal logic notation…
The fact we can use that notation to present something on a digital medium is a fascinating construct.
@mateuszmig@thdxr This is interesting. I checked the site.
It’s a little complex to setup with AI agent links. I’d prefer a paid model where all the AI configurations is done in the background.
Also, it’s missing 2d game options, and it’s not really made for mobile.
Ok so I have 2D #pixelart sheets converted to 3d. The problem is wang tile classifications and rules. Dear god... I am about to have a mental breakdown with this part... I thought i'd even cheat and get ai to help me... nope.. 100x worse.. in fact... i am glad i had git commits before I did that.. as it completely ruined the code base with that failed attempt.
Fable 5 maybe your god tier model but feed it a sheet and say "make it work" without describing in great detail on how results in just ass cancer.
This video is me reverting back to my smooth brain rules approach... ya know ... fingers on keyboard, editor, brain engaged, critical thinking stuff.

@SpikeCalls You realise I could just clone a git repo for free of any of the hundreds of minecraft clones on GitHub. And I didn't need to spend $1000 of dollars on tokens or use a data centre full of GPUs.
