This angle gets me, where he’s just kind of standing there soaking it in, then sees his daughter and smiles, then instantly melts into tears … whew. Hell of a run, 35.

A battle between rivals and top teams in Division 4 saw Bellevue end Shelby's 13-game winning streak with a 67-54 victory in front of their home fans.

The Lady Red (17-1) came out hot, surging to an early 9-2 lead before the Whippets (16-2) fought back to make it close throughout the first half. Led by Hailey Rees and her team-best 21 points, Bellevue started to create some distance on the scoreboard with a strong 2nd Half push.

Along with 20 points by Kaitlyn Turinsky and 15 from Carrington Savage, the Lady Red turned a 32-28 halftime edge into a 12-point cushion by the start of the 4th quarter. Despite Eve Schwemley going off for a game-high 29 points, Shelby struggled to get stops down the stretch as Bellevue pulled away for their 6th consecutive win.
