As we sat down to reflect on the year gone by - few charts that stood out for me
While India market cap has gone 5.7x since 2008 peak in INR terms, in gold terms it has been flat - gold has been a terrific asset for Indian households
In the larger moodboard, the stuff looks all red recently as credit growth slows. Interestingly, Gold loan growth is super strong at 56% - when you can't get unsecured loans, you'll take gold loans. Also notable is the sharp growth in commercial real estate.
@deepakshenoy in case of under construction - only the disbursed portion would be accounted as outstanding loans ? a bit tricky to get the view of actual houses sold (that would be CREDAI or prop equity etc.)
