While conducting #TshwaneYaTima in Atteridgeville, I met Thato - who runs Lacquer Nail and Beauty Clinic. Her municipal accounts are up to date. What was most interesting about Thato’s work, is that twice a week she hosts elderly women for beauty treatments.
If you are interested in supporting a small business, please visit Thato’s salon. We want to see all businesses to grow in Tshwane.
Thato’s work can be followed via TikTok, Instagram and Facebook on: lacquer_nbc

This is Zuko Radebe.
His identity was stolen by a foreign national, and Home Affairs wrongly certified him as deceased for years.
Because of this, he has been unable to get employment, and he is currently suffering with no shelter to sleep in. He reported the matter to SAPS, but received no assistance.
Please share this widely, maybe someone on your timeline knows how to help or can connect him to the right people at Home Affairs, SAPS, or a support organisation.
Let’s help one of our own get his life back. 🙏

😂 ELDERLY WIDOW STAYING IN A RETIREMENT HOME LOST R 1.8 MILLION UNLAWFULLY WITHDRAWN FROM HER SAVINGS ACCOUNT BY STANDARD BANK.
As she lost all her savings , she has to vacate the old age home and go and stay with her daughter. STANDARD BANK denied any wrongdoing.
We have been going back and forth with @StandardBankZA about mama’s matter. My mother’s pension was paid into her account, and by the second day the entire amount was transferred out to multiple accounts.
Her bank statement clearly shows that these transfers were done at a branch in Acornhoek. The problem is that my mother was in Nelspruit on that day. She did not travel to Acornhoek to make any transfers.
Despite this, the bank claims she performed the transactions but refuses to provide the account numbers where the money was sent. When funds leave an account, there must be a clear record of the destination accounts. Refusing to disclose that information raises serious concerns about transparency and accountability.
This is a pensioner’s money, and the handling of this situation is unacceptable.
YOU ARE FRAUDS!!!
‼️ Dear South African Courts & Co.
How much does it actually cost per page for black & white copies requested at court?
Yesterday at White River Magistrate’s Court, I requested copies needed for trial prep. After a lengthy back-and-forth with the Court Manager, who has previously refused me access to documents I’m Constitutionally entitled to, I was finally assisted by a Clerk of the Court, but only after reminding them of my rights, asking them if they needed me to contact our attorney, and sending about 10 emails.
The total? R456.
I suspect a stack of bank notes for that amount would be taller than the copies themselves. But okay.
I asked to pay by card (it was way more than expected), but no, cash only for this. I called my husband to withdraw cash and bring it to me at court. Paid. Asked for a receipt? “No, we don’t have it.” “Come get it tomorrow.”
Today I returned to collect that receipt for these “rare” overpriced sheets of paper. The same woman at the cash desk looked at me in utter bewilderment, as if I had no right to ask. She carried on packing books into a cupboard while I waited at the window, I tried to get her attention: “Excuse me, mam, my receipt please.”
Suddenly, two @SAPoliceService officers appeared behind me to escort me out, for the “crime” of wanting my receipt.
I explained I’m entitled to proof of payment for the R456 handed over yesterday. So they ushered me into the Court Manager’s office.
One thing is crystal clear: when dealing with this corrupt system, you MUST film everything (I wish I had a body cam). Situations can turn absurdly dangerous in seconds, even a magistrate might attack you with a brick right at court, as actually happened to my husband. Filming creates undeniable evidence for personal protection.
The rot in South Africa runs all the way down to tiny courts like White River.
I eventually got my receipt.
Now please, tell me, for R456, how many pages did I receive?

17-year-old Karabo Mpuru from Lebowakgomo, Limpopo, is currently representing South Africa at the prestigious Taiwan International Science Fair, taking place from 31 January to 7 February 2026.
Karabo, a former learner at Northern Academy in Polokwane, developed a research project titled ‘Finding the constant difference in an Arithmetic sequence,’ which has proven that two newly developed formulas can find the common difference in any arithmetic sequence, whether even, odd, or any other type of numbers.
The research offers practical benefits for learners, helping them to save time during tests, improve problem-solving skills, and build stronger foundations in mathematics.
Karabo is also joined by Yu-Yao Chen, a Grade 11 learner at Curro Durbanville High School in Cape Town.

A family in KwaMashu K Section was held at gunpoint in their home for several hours on 8 January 2026. The suspects robbed the family and forced them to increase their bank transaction limits via a mobile banking app. The criminals then purchased alcohol worth R4,000 and withdrew a total of R50,000 from two bank accounts.
Anyone who recognises the suspects is urged to contact the South African Police Service (SAPS).
