Gilbert's seen it all

Let's go back to the days before he was spearheading open standards & a government level cybersecurity expert

Initially he graduated from University of Technology Sydney with a Bachelor's in E-Business in 2002

This lead him to his first position in his professional career at DXC Technologies

DXC Technologies is an American based multinational info tech services firm that's publicly listed on the New York Stock Exchange

For the first 4 years of his time with DXC, he served as the Strikeforce Australia Lead as a Senior Security Architect

For his final 2 years with DXC, Gilbert had relocated to the United Kingdom

While also moving up the ranks to managing & consulting the EMEA regions

So already in Gilbert's first position out of university, he has made it to the upper levels of big corporate

But of course... we've hardly gotten started

At this point it was 2007 & Gilbert had decided to spend some time in the Big 4 as a Senior Security Manager for EY

He stayed at EY for JUST under 4 years from October 2007 - August 2011

Keep in mind he was already in the UK at this time, which is where $QNT is based

Midway through his time with EY, he had also joined the HM Treasury as their CSO & Deputy CTO

HM Treasury stands for Her Majesty's Treasury

It's the government department for the economic & financial policies from ideation to integration in the United Kingdom

Now Gilbert was officially on the big stages

✅Senior Manager level with Big 4 EY

✅CSO & CTO of public sector financial policy
It would appear that Gilbert's time in the UK Treasury ignited a passion in the fields of cybersecurity

As after his departure from EY & HM Treasury in August 2011...

Gilbert had worked for short periods at HSBC & BP on the subjects of digital security program integrations

Then he took another spin at the UK government level, again in security

Though you could argue this was at a much higher level, as this was no longer security in the financial & economic sector

But rather the Ministry for Justice itself

Gilbert had spent another 1.5 years there as the Security Lead before going back down under

Heading back to Australia with a world of new experience in professional services especially in cybersecurity

With his newfound ambitions he stepped into the C-level position as CISO for the eHealth agency of the New South Wales government

Additionally he was also Chair of NSW Government Security Council where he oversaw the security & safety of 167 departments & agencies

Surprisingly his time in the healthcare department in New South Wales, was also the same time he had given the idea of Quant's Overledger

As he was growing frustrated with how patient healthcare data couldn't interoperate across different systems, he decided to build a solution himself

Let's stop & think of this solution for a second...

🤔A system that allows for data exchange regardless of different systems

Where have we heard that one before?!

This was such a great solution to enabling data exchange across different technologies that ISO had come to Gilbert

They had requested to turn his simple solution for his frustrations into an ISO Standard🤯

This is eventually what led to the creation of ISO TC 307 today, the international standard for blockchain & DLT

Gilbert currently operates as Convenor for WG7 of ISO TC 307 as the spearhead of the interoperability group, quite fitting

By now it was 2016 & Gilbert was an established name in both the UK & Australian government, but he decides to make an unexpected turn

While he was volunteering in the Cross Border Operational Resilience Group (CMORG) for the Bank of England

He also had other ventures during his return to the UK

He steps back into the private sector headquartered in London UK, as the CISO for Vocalink, a payments company that Mastercard holds a 97% stake in

During his 2 year stint with Vocalink, Gilbert had proved once again why he was simply built different at the professional enterprise services level

In 2017 he had won FinTech CISO of the year, while in 2018 the entire Vocalink team had won Financial Services Team of the Year!

It's also ESSENTIAL to note two coworkers of Gilbert at the time

Colin Paterson & Martin Hargreaves, both of which play an important role to the structures of $QNT today

After Gilbert had finished his tenure at Vocalink in 2018, he had spent some time in the US at the highest level of finance at the US Federal Reserve!

He served in both the Secure Payments Task Force & the Fed Payments Improvement Committee from 2017-2018

At this point he realized the future of our economy was moving onto distributed ledger technology

He had officially created Quant Network

A company aiming to enable the world of enterprises to connect their legacy infrastructure of any type to any blockchain they desired

And who better than Gilbert?

By this point he's had well over a decade of experience in the professional & government services industry

Initially the company was founded by Gilbert, Colin Paterson who worked alongside Gilbert at Vocalink & Paolo Tasca, a seasoned expert in DLT sciences

During this time he also took on a few other roles within the government level

- BSI Chair of DLT & Delegate for ISO TC 307 in UK

- EU Blockchain Policy & Framework WG Member

Both these positions had ended approximately in June of 2021... notice the overlap in Gilbert's position & time there with the timeline of the MiCA bill in the EU🧐

As we can see, from Gilbert's first 2 years at officially bringing Overledger to life, he had already laid the foundations within governments and corporations around the world

From regulations to standardization, all of this was done before Quant was brought to life

♟️It's almost as if Gilbert had been planning this since before his NSW days

Today Gilbert's expertise in enterprise & government services has expanded globally with Quant Network

From disrupting Latin America's infrastructure through LACChain, to returning back to England with the BIS for their retail CBDC trial & much more
