I spent over two decades in counterterrorism and I’m still involved in many ways, so here are my views on what I see has happened over the past 24-36 hours in the UK:
Five British men in their twenties were arrested on Sunday near RAF Fairford on suspicion of explosives offences and the preparation of a terrorist act. On Monday they were released on police bail.
That’s not what the terrorism clock looks like when the investigators are still in charge of it.
Under ordinary UK criminal law a suspect can be held for 24 hours, stretched to 36 by a superintendent, and to 96 hours by a magistrate.
But under section 41 of the Terrorism Act the first hold is 48 hours, not 24 hours. A judge can then extend it, in stages, up to 14 days without a charge. If the case merits it, it can even be pushed to 28 days. That 14-day cap exists for exactly this kind of file of vans, an airbase the United States uses, a possible foreign hand, explosives (if there were any) and interviews that are not finished on the first night.
Counter-terrorism police said the inquiry isn’t over. They said conditions apply. They said a state link has not been ruled out. Those sentences he said only make sense if the evidence trail was still live. A live trail is why Parliament built the two-week window.
But watching the guy read out the statement showed me in his body language, tone and eye movements that releasing those five men was NOT his or his department’s decision.
Walking five men after roughly a day is what you do with a pub fight, not with a suspected terrorist attack on a bomber base.
I’ve sat in enough interrogation rooms to know the difference between a custody clock and a political ceiling. Nobody had to shout an order down a phone. Someone in the political building above the investigators decided that charging British nationals on Monday, with Iran already denying it, Washington watching the runway, and a Labour conference where the main topics of discussion were prioritizing Palestinian and other refugees settling in the UK, was uglier than bail and a holding statement.
The law allowed them to keep the door shut. Yet the door opened anyway in half of the most minimum time.
That’s the story. That for me is the only story here. Not “they were innocent.” Not “the case collapsed.” The statute was not exhausted, but the appetite was.
The real question is who, and most importantly, why?
It really says a lot when Hamas and the PA are some of the first to congratulate a Jew hating socialist on winning an election. All of them are as equally corrupt as the other. All of them will fall just as hard.
🚨 HAMAS CONGRATULATES LULA ON BRAZIL ELECTION VICTORY
Hamas congratulated Lula da Silva on winning a fourth presidential term, praising his “noble positions” on the Palestinian cause and expressing “full confidence” he will continue supporting Palestinian statehood with Jerusalem as its capital.
@MikeMcc55 Even the NYPD would be overkill for that lot. They do have a lot of jihadists there though so Ireland has its own issues they need to worry about
Irish Army cannot become a tool of Israel?
Buddy, the Irish Army is about 7,800 people with no tanks, no combat aircraft, and a budget that wouldn’t buy the fuel for a week of Merkava operations. You could fit the entire active force into the parking lot of one Israeli base and still have room for the canteen.
Israel isn’t trying to use your army. Your army couldn’t be used for a toothpick. The only thing it might destroy is the idea that Ireland has a serious military.

Antizionism is a litmus test created by Progressives that they apply only to Jewish people. The price of being a Jewish Progressive who wants to stay in those spaces is to buy into the goal of eradicating Israel and removing all Jews from the Holy Land. There is no wiggle room on this either. Yet, Progressives will argue until they are blue in the face that this litmus test of Antizionism is not antisemitic. So I ask, are there litmus tests for members of other groups? Are blacks and Hispanics required to confront the homophobia and misogyny in their communities? Are Muslims required to condemn slavery in Qatar, and antisemitism, racial, homophobia and sexism in Islam? We all know the answer is an emphatic “No” so we all know that the Antizionism of the Progressives is just another word for antisemitism.
It’s also why progressivism is doomed to fail. A bunch of competing interests and intractable ideas that can only loosely appear work together before it all implodes.
The only question is whether it’ll take America down with it…
Impressive work from Nick Shirley, as always.
Watching this footage just further reinforced a couple of things for me.
🔴 Self-proclaimed communists, and in this case supporters of Lula, seem incapable of stringing together a single coherent sentence that justifies their views or demonstrates even a basic understanding of politics or the world in general. And no, it's not because of a language barrier. They really are just that dim.
🔴 I don't necessarily believe this is representative of the majority of Brazilians, but IF it genuinely is how most of them feel, that capitalism is bad and that Cuba is somehow a better country than the United States, then it's difficult to have much sympathy for the political and economic consequences of those beliefs.
And I'd go further. You can't endlessly complain about corruption, poverty, economic stagnation and the lack of opportunities in your country while enthusiastically supporting the very political ideas that have contributed to those problems elsewhere.
To be honest, that way of thinking, that mentality, screams third-world politics. And if it's genuinely representative of the wider population, then Brazil has a long way to go before it can hope to move beyond it.
The footage of Palestinians celebrating 9/11 and October 7 is far worse than most people want to admit. They weren’t reacting to some vague rumors. These weren’t little things they heard snippets about.
On 9/11 the images of passenger planes hitting the towers were on television everywhere within minutes. They knew civilians were on the planes and inside those buildings and still handed out sweets and danced in the streets. They knew innocent men, women and children were murdered and still cheered wildly.
On October 7 it was even clearer. Hamas was livestreaming the killings, the burnings, the rapes, the beheadings, the hostages, and the attacks on the festival and the kibbutzim. They knew that innocent men, women, children and even babies were butchered. The details were public the same day, inside Gaza. Yet the people still went out, distributed candy, and celebrated while praising Allah.
They knew what had been done to the men, women, and children. They celebrated it anyway.
That’s the part that doesn’t go away. These are NOT poor innocent people. They are monsters who worship death.
@adam_porat The blame for that one rests solely with the Arab League and the United Nations. They have prevented the “Palestinians” from moving on and use them as pawns in their war to destroy Israel.
This video masterfully captures the five steps of Palestinianism:
1. Start a war to massacre Jews.
2. Lose the war emphatically.
3. Cry about losing the war endlessly.
4. Pretend to be the victim.
5. Blame everything on the Jews.
Then cut, paste and repeat, over and over and over and over and…
78+ years of this shit and it never changes. And yet all the braindead leftist liberals and imbeciles who stand with them somehow don’t ever put two and two together and see that what the Muslim Arabs have done and continue to do to the Jews is exactly what they did to the Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and every other non Muslim people. The only difference is that unlike everyone else, the Jews fight back. And win. And the Muslim Arabs who have started every war simply can’t handle the fact that a teeny tiny nation keeps defeating the death cult of hundreds of millions of Muslims.
Watch this.
Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion “Zionism is racism”, spells out the central obscenity of our age – the grotesque inversion whereby the victims of ethnic cleansing, Apartheid and genocide must constantly fend off accusations from their tormentors that it is they who are the racists.
“We as Palestinians are being silenced and gaslit and vilified [as we] witness the annihilation, the cold-blooded murder of our families, of our people… our children burnt with phosphorus, having to endure amputations with no anaesthetic, having their limbs torn and shredded, their bodies burnt by phosphorus, being starved to death … And to have to sit here … and try to bury my feelings so I can eloquently and diplomatically shield my anger, my rage, my anguish that every Palestinian is feeling, is an insult.” /1
WARNING ⚠️ One of the most horrific vids I’ve seen since Oct 7th footage. But it needs to be shared.
Islamists are horrifically butchering Christians across Africa
The MSM is silent.
The UN is silent.
Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens etc silent.
I will never stay silent on the Genocide of Christians across Africa. Never.
It is a very rare occurrence for me to learn something completely new, a totally new perspective, when it comes to Israeli politics.
But that is exactly what happened here.
This morning I wrote a post about who I am voting for, and in the post I mentioned that I don’t believe Ben Gvir is polished enough to be considered a serious politician.
A member of his team, my friend @YishaiFleisher (Running as #12) reached out and shared this video of his wonderful wife, @MalkahFleisher.
I will admit, what she says in this video really gives me a unique perspective and something I had never thought of when it comes to Ben Gvir and his policies.
I suggest you watch it, because it shifted my perspective, that’s for sure.
Open your mind and watch!
@lee57527 It was always just a matter of time for it to kick off here. The difference is that the French police dealt with much of it. The Met will be marching with them.
Crazy footage from the Paris riots of a rioter dressed in almost full Islamic terrorist uniform firing what looks like a homemade firework cannon at French police.
This may seem like a one-off. But this is just the beginning. I suspect things will become more and more violent. This time it’s a fireworks cannon. Next time it will be a semiautomatic rifle.
It always starts with protests, and the more they get away with it the more they will push the boundaries until you start having civilian casualties. Then when the police attempt to crack down on it, the rioters and those pushing them to do it will see it as a green light to take it even further. This won’t end well.

@lee57527 Are these the youth walkouts? I think there should be a cleared path made for them leading all the way to a large ferry, and then ship them all off to somewhere far away. The UK has allowed itself to be destroyed. I genuinely think it’s too late.
