A few days ago, I was walking with my little daughter Layan through one of Gaza’s streets, when she suddenly tugged on my hand and said with excitement, “Daddy! There’s chicken and fries!”

I quickly turned to where she was pointing and saw nothing but the remains of a destroyed restaurant. Only the sign was left, with an image of chicken and fries.

She said again, with innocent joy: “I love chicken, Daddy.”

I swallowed my pain and told her, “I’ll buy you some when it’s available.”
She smiled… but we returned to our tent with tears in her eyes.

She cried for food. And I her father stood helpless, unable to provide even a piece of bread.

The sky felt like it was collapsing on me.

This is not just suffering… it is a deliberate crime against childhood, against life.

How long will the world stay silent?
What have our children done to deserve this?
Stop this genocide. Enough humiliation, enough pain.

I saw this scene with my own eyes while we were being displaced from northern Gaza to the south, passing through the Israeli checkpoint.

They arrested a small child and took him from his mother’s arms.

She held on to him with all her strength, refusing to let him go,
so they beat her and threw her to the ground,
yet she did not stop resisting.

Then they shot her, and she fell bleeding in front of everyone.
When someone tried to help her, he was shot as well.

I stood there helpless, unable to understand how a heart could become so cruel.
