Stray voltage from underground cables almost certainly caused the carriage horse to bolt. Given this major development, it would be immensely unfair to ban an entire industry employing about 200 mostly immigrant workers because of faulty municipal infrastructure. @TwuSamuelsen

All of the Transit Authority’s electronic bench repairs are done at the Central Electronics Shop also known as the Woodside shop as per an agreement in 1997 between Local 100 and the NYCTA.

The Woodside shop is home to about 230 of our Electronic Equipment Maintainers Level 2 and Revenue Equipment Maintainers Level 2 are responsible for repairing all of the electronic components found in the NYCTA’s Car Equipment fleet including HVAC systems, door control, public address and braking–– work that happens behind the scenes that makes commutes seamless and comfortable for passengers.

The Woodside shop is also where all of the Metro Card Vending Machine components were once serviced. After 2022, maintainers at CES began to service electronic components of the OMNY system.

Today in East Islip, Long Island, President John V. Chiarello joined the annual Bangladeshi American picnic for employees of New York City Transit, along with Stations VP Robert Kelley and Stations Division Chair Nicolette Browne.

In addition to food, fun and solidarity, there was an important message—President Chiarello addressed the ongoing contract negotiations, saying he would not settle for 2% raises and terms that diminished our healthcare and job security.

The fight continues!

In 2026 Manhattan has suffered four deaths from collisions involving E-Bikes, with another
169 people injured and maimed . Where’s hypocritical Brad Holyman’s detailed report on this public safety scourge ? Oh wait , Brad didn’t see any way to exploit a tragedy or any moment for political opportunism by issuing reports on E-Bike fatalities. In fact as a NYC Councilman and now Manhattan Borough President @bradhoylman has been absolutely silent on these deaths and injuries . At the end of 2025 @transportworker union AGAIN asked @CentralParkNYC for hitching posts, @JimGennaro introduced Intro 937 including hitching posts 6/11/26 but @SpeakerMenin still hasn't scheduled the bill for a hearing. The city failed us all on preventable accidents.
