This is the closest you can ever come to winning an argument with a communist.
Once you have dismantled every talking point they have, they will always retreat to “the CIA sabotaged it.”

Another Rant: Why raiding is GOOD
Yes, even if you only raid with 1-10 viewers.
I’ve seen a lot of posts circulating lately talking about raiding so I thought, as always, I’d throw in my two cents.
Some arguments I’ve heard against raiding are:
» Loss of viewership: some creators think that you’ll lose viewers if you raid out to other creators.
» Clout chasing: people think you’re clout chasing if you raid a larger creator.
» Analytics: a lot of people tend to drop off immediately after a raid, and this can mess with viewership averages.
» Different content/personality: if you drop your viewers off in a stream with a vtuber who has an entirely different aesthetic, it can cause some whiplash.
» Little to no benefit for the raider: there’s really no ROI for raiding. Even shoutouts will hardly get you any follows.
And here’s why you should raid anyway:
» Visibility: massive spike in engagement = Twitch algorithm pushing your content to a wider audience.
» Viewer surplus: At any given time, Twitch has millions of viewers. There is no such thing as a viewer shortage, in fact: you might even be exposing yourself or other streamers to a bigger community.
» Networking: Many streamers, myself included, are so busy with either streaming, content creation, or an IRL Job that meeting over or chatting with other streamers is hard. Raiding someone during their stream is the easiest way to give a memorable ’hello’.
» Goodwill: you’re helping your community more than you realize. By raiding to someone pushing for affiliate or even partner, you might have just given that person the extra burst they needed to hit that milestone!
And finally…. It’s just a nice thing to do. One thing I always say to my chat when I raid out is, “let’s go make someone’s day.”
People raid me and then leave in seconds. How does this help?
First, it’s completely normal that most viewers drop off after a raid.
Many viewers are either busy and have planned to drop when their streamer ends, or they just don’t vibe with the content. Either scenario is normal and doesn’t mean that your content is bad. If you want to increase your retention, here’s a couple of tips, coming from someone who regularly absorbs big raids (50-200) and holds retention for a while:
» Practice your raid message. You have 5-10 seconds to gain and hold a brand new audience who just met you. It’s normal for people to drop immediately after a raid, but those 10 seconds are critical if you want to engage them enough to stay.
» Be friendly, inviting and thank the streamer raiding you. You should assume that viewers notice when people do or don’t thank their streamer, and make a note of it.
» Come up with a quick question that’s bound to spark discussion. Anything that makes someone stop and want to answer. “What’s your favorite pizza topping and why is pineapple on pizza the worst one there is.”
» Be flexible. If you see chat engagement is lore, have some engaging topics or questions at the ready that you can easily throw in.
» Don’t go into a lore deep dive. Keep your self intro short, punchy, and sticky.
» Be yourself! It can be nerve wracking to get raided, especially if it’s a big one. It’s alright if you mess up. More raids will happen, take each one as a learning experience for how to improve in the future. The more you force something, the more awkward it will be. You were chosen for a reason, so let people see that reason.
Raiders, how can you help?
» Take the time to explain to your chat why sending the raid message is actually important. It’s not just a flex, it helps spike their engagement which also helps boost the algorithm in the streamer’s favor. I stress to my chat how this helps small streamers become more discoverable (since twitch discovery sucks). I take a couple of minutes at the end of each stream to explain to my chat how helpful raiding is and how important it is for them to send the raid message.
» Choose someone who is in the same niche as you: viewers are more likely to stick around if the streamer you chose fits your same vibe.
» Choose someone who’s having a special event! I’ve raided people who have Streamiversaries, birthday, are partner pushing, or trying to reach affiliate. Let your chat know that they’re making a difference. I like to believe in the inherent good in humanity; I think we all enjoy knowing we made a positive impact on someone.
» Ask your chat for suggestions! I always ask my viewers who they would like me to raid next. Wouldn’t you also love it if your favorite streamer got a raid because of you?
So there it is. Hopefully this has helped someone, somewhere. I will say; I raid at the end of every single stream and I’ve never lost viewership. I still see my chat in every stream (if they can make it) and they’re still active in their communities.
I think there’s far more than enough to go around, and at the end of the day, I strongly believe that community is extremely important (hello Latino heritage) and we should be supporting each other. What’s the point in all of this if not to have a good experience, both as streamer and viewer? We’re all in this together, after all.
