4) Don’t ever involve in others matter. If two people are fighting, let them fight.

Many decades ago, I invited a Bollywood actress to my home. I won’t name her out of respect for her privacy. There were several American guests, and I had catered Indian food from a local restaurant.

Midway through the evening, one of the wait staff recognized her. He immediately put down his tray, bent all the way down, and touched her feet. In fact he lay down flat on the ground.

My American friends were completely bewildered.

“Why did he touch her feet? Who is she?”

I didn’t know how to explain it.

That moment stayed with me. Celebrity worship is so deeply embedded in our culture that what seems completely normal to one person can look incomprehensible to someone outside it.

जिला बिजनौर में एक बच्चा बीमार हुआ। पहाड़ी पंडित ने फैमिली से संपर्क किया। बच्चे की जान को खतरा बताया। पूजा–पाठ के लिए उसे हरिद्वार गंगा तट और श्यामपुर कांगड़ी स्थित काली माता मंदिर में ले गया। डर/अंधविश्वास का माहौल बनाकर फैमिली से 70 लाख रुपए ऐंठ लिए। फिर 10 रुपए के स्टांप पेपर पर लिखवा लिया कि अगर ये सब बात बाहर किसी को बताई तो काली माता के प्रकोप से बच्चे की मृत्यु हो जाएगी।

> फैमिली ने मकान बेचकर 38 लाख दिए
> मां ने जेवरात बेचकर 14 लाख दिए
> पिता ने अपनी जॉब पर 13 लाख का लोन लेकर पैसा दिया
> पूजा सामग्री के नाम पर 5 लाख रुपए दिए

बिजनौर पुलिस ने आज पहाड़ी पंडित उर्फ संजय शर्मा, मोनू चौधरी, यश चौधरी, कोमल सिंह को गिरफ्तार किया।
