Just to add that David is happy to pay any reasonable fee for the accommodation, he has suggested 1700 Euros per month. Carer's allowances will cover some of this and David can make up the difference.
Lovely senior Irish tweeter David O'Brien, who you may know better as @thepainterflynn and now tweets from @oddweirdadvice is currently in hospital in Nenagh. The hospital will release him if he can find suitable accommodation. David previously had a house which he sold some years ago when he moved to live with his brother. His brother is sadly now deceased and David's subsequent accommodation is no longer available to him.
David does not want to go into a nursing home if he can help it. Although disappointingly no alternative accommodation has been sourced for him by the State, he is hoping it may nonetheless turn up through the goodwill of Irish twitter (also, he says things usually do turn up in the end). It would be great if he were to be proven right!
If anyone is interested in offering David accommodation, please contact him at @oddweirdadvice. He is cut off from his enormous number of old followers at @thepainterflynn because of Twitter issues with that account.
“Any genuine work of art generates new work.” —Donald Barthelme
This week, we’ve unlocked our Art of Fiction interview with Donald Barthelme. https://t.co/jM1JyF8PMX
I’m delighted to have received copies of this volume. It has had a long gestation, but I think it’s an important collection, and it appears at an opportune time given the troubled state of the world and current challenges to freedom of the press in the US and elsewhere.
All the admins leaving for other jobs isn’t a sign that people are fleeing the college. It’s healthy turnover. Time for some new energy. Except for me, I am staying.
Great to have Sam and Liam on Brussels today, showing them around before my event tonight celebrating the upcoming Irish Presidency! GRMA @officialgaa for sending the lads on tour!
I’m going through my post in London, before plunging back through the rain to Heathrow. And in there is the loveliest postcard from the absolute loveliest astronaut, to bring to a little fellow in Ireland tonight. Thank you so much, @DrSianProctor. You are inspiring little people in Ireland to reach for the stars… 🚀💚
