a lot of neoclouds are pivoting to inference without any real differentiation. i don’t think this ends well

the market has two dynamics:

• compute supply is constrained, so revenue is growing even for undifferentiated providers

• frontier labs are competing aggressively for talent, creating a natural path to consolidation

but revenue growth is not the same as a sustainable business!

10 companies selling effectively the same product can not all:

1. go public: wall street will butcher 10 capita intensive, undifferentiated businesses

2. get acquired: strategic buyers have limited appetite for overlapping infra

3. stay private: continuous capex and working capital requirements make independence v expensive

my bet: if none of the new ones productise, they get consolidated into players like @baseten/ @FireworksAI_HQ or the big labs

the rest face a vicious cycle:

capital constraints → talent attrition → weaker products → lower customer retention → irrelevance…

the bottleneck today is supply. the moat tomorrow has to be something else

Delicious Shrimp Fried Rice with Vegetables
Ingredients
Rice & Vegetables
4 cups (550 g) cooked and chilled long-grain white rice
3 eggs
½ cup (75 g) diced carrots
½ cup (70 g) green peas
3 scallions, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
Cooking oil
Shrimp
450 g (1 lb) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon chicken bouillon powder
¼ teaspoon white pepper
Sauce
2½ tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
This shrimp fried rice is made with chilled cooked rice and shrimp seasoned before stir-frying. Combined with vegetables, eggs, and a flavorful sauce, it creates a delicious Asian-style dish that is both satisfying and packed with🥰👍

Salesforce’s proposed Listen Labs acquisition goes straight to a valuable business input: understanding customers before making the next decision.

The September 29 announcement describes an AI-powered research and human simulation platform. Its agents design studies, recruit participants, conduct interviews and synthesize findings. Salesforce says the platform can draw on a network of more than 50 million participants and support interviews in over 120 languages.

Listen Labs also uses digital twins grounded in customer behavior to generate simulated responses to products, messages and ideas. Those simulations are designed to help teams compare approaches before additional customer testing.

Salesforce expects the acquisition to complement Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud and its broader AI portfolio. Closing is expected in fiscal fourth-quarter 2027, subject to customary conditions and regulatory clearance. The strategic link is research insight flowing into customer-facing workflows.
