One girl took a stand to talk about the human trafficking that is happening around our campuses. Within seconds, everyone began sharing, warning others and stepping up that it has happened to them as well. Social media will be a powerful tool for children #lesson12
Over the years, the image of females in Disney movies have barely changed. They are still sexualized females that need to be saved by a strong male character. These are not the messages we should be sending to young girls. #WeNeedChange#lesson11
I knew I saw this image on Facebook a long time ago.. I type into google “Truths about the evolution of Disney Princesses” and this pops up! I think it speaks for itself.. #DisneyPricesses#Evolution#Lesson11#EDUC307
@ScaglioneMaya Agreed. And when young innocent children are imitating Disney characters, what they do not realize is that they are actually making fun of other cultures and races.
Watching Mickey Mouse Monopoly has really changed my view on Disney movies. This documentary needs to be viewed by more people in order for them to understand the subtle (or not so subtle) messages that are being portrayed to children. #lesson11
One of my favourite quotes from her and I think it relates so well to #lesson10 is “We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced.”
After learning about woman inequality in some cultures, I did some research of my own. I remember reading about Malala in grade 7 and have added a link to her fund and what she stands for. Truly empowering and something worth looking at!! #lesson10 https://t.co/hQdWLYcKS1
@mario_ruggie Agreed! I learnt about it in high school (maybe because I went to an all girls high school) but I am surprised to hear that so many people do not know about it! #lesson10
The Lebanese rape laws are completely disrespectful towards women. The fact that a man gets away with rape if he marries the woman IS INSANE!!! #lesson10
