Normalize checking on the friend who “never needs help.”
The one who always jokes.
The one who answers “I’m good.”
The one everybody goes to with THEIR problems.
The one who disappears for a few days and comes back like nothing happened.
Sometimes the strongest person you know is just the best at hiding what they’re going through.
A lot of people don’t actually want to die.
They just want the pain to stop, and they don’t know how to tell anybody they’re drowning.
So check on your people.
And don’t just ask “you good?”
Ask twice. ❤️🩹
You might get a different answer the second time.
I wanna speak on something serious for a minute.
Mental health is real, and I feel like way too many people are silently fighting battles nobody knows about. People hold everything in, act like they’re okay, keep smiling, keep showing up… until eventually they break completely.
And I can speak on that personally because I’m guilty of holding everything in too.
In 2024, nearly 49,000 people in the United States died by suicide. Worldwide, more than 720,000 people die by suicide every year. Men make up the majority of suicide deaths.
Those aren’t just numbers. Those are somebody’s son, daughter, father, mother, brother, sister, friend, or somebody who felt like they had nobody they could turn to.
Please stop thinking you have to fight everything alone.
You are NOT a bother for reaching out.
You are NOT weak for admitting you’re struggling.
You don’t have to wait until you’re at your breaking point to talk to somebody.
And I mean this from the bottom of my heart… if anybody I know or a complete stranger is struggling mentally and feels like they have nobody to talk to, PLEASE reach out to me. I don’t care if we haven’t talked in years. I don’t care if we aren’t close, I don’t care if we’ve never talked before and most importantly I don’t care what time it is.
I promise you, I understand what it feels like to have things going on inside your head that you don’t know how to explain.
I’d rather sit there and listen to everything you’re going through than find out you thought nobody cared.
Check on your people. Especially the ones who always say they’re “good.”
You never know what somebody is fighting behind closed doors. ❤️🩹
