“Looking at the hospital and hearing the civilians cry, you felt only disaster,” a key medical staff member at Mullivaikkal makeshift hospital told media on Wednesday (13.05.2009).
Mothers carrying their wounded children through chaos and fear after another devastating SLA barrage.
Doctors reported that many of the victims were children — around 40 critically injured children arrived at the hospital in just one day.
With only a handful of medical staff left, the hospital itself became a target, attacked for the third time within five days.
More than 250 critically wounded people needed urgent treatment. But as shelling continued around the hospital, doctors, patients, and families were forced to hide in bunkers instead of receiving care.
This is not just a crisis. These are human lives. Children. Mothers. Families trying to survive.
