This is a terrible ruling and very activist on the part of the high court. Here's outgoing @JusticeLeeTN Read her opinion for why: https://t.co/ePssO9LUYS
So, 124 Republicans just voted for Jim Jordan as their Speakership nominee. That means at least 124 Republicans are totally comfortable with someone who still answered his subpoena, who did nothing about sexual assault claims, & who is an election denier. This is who they are.
Let's talk numbers:
There are 4.4 million registered voters here in TN.
Marsha Blackburn received just 1.2 million votes in her last election.
The math is simple: People power CAN defeat her — but only if we grow this grassroots movement day by day!
Hadley’s story is important.
Under Kentucky’s current law—which Daniel Cameron supports and defended to the Supreme Court—women and girls like her would have no options.
Former President Jimmy Carter has stunned doctors and family members by thriving seven months after entering hospice care and is looking forward to his 99th birthday in just over a week.
Maybe it’s the peanut butter ice cream he still enjoys. Or the fact that his first-place Atlanta Braves are cruising toward the playoffs and he wants to see another World Series.
Or as many of his loved ones and former advisers suggest, maybe he is just too stubborn to follow anyone else’s timetable.
While nearly everyone, including his family, assumed that the end was imminent when he gave up full-scale medical care last winter, the farmer-turned-president has once again defied expectations.
“We thought at the beginning of this process that it was going to be in five or so days,” Jason Carter, his grandson, said.
“I was down there with him in the hospital and then said goodbye. And then we thought it was going to be in that week that it was coming to the end. And it’s just now been seven months.”
Relatives say President Carter is aware of the outpouring of love and support he has received and is deeply grateful.
Here’s to you President Carter! We wish you a wonderful Birthday coming up. May you always defy expectations! 💙
Ann Patchett is exactly right, TN is banning books the banners never read, to “protect” children, yet doing nothing to end gun violence, the number 1 killer of TN children.
“I was going over a list of books that are banned in Tennessee [schools] and… the list was really staggering,” says novelist Ann Patchett. “Yet at the same time, we’re not doing anything to keep our children safe from guns… It’s ludicrous and an embarrassment… It’s a crime.”
Our momentum is surging! I'm so proud to have met with folks in TN and beyond who are with me in this fight.

JONES AT THE WHITE HOUSE: “This is a great victory for impacted families, survivors, and young people who have been fighting the crisis of gun violence.”
@brotherjones_, Covenant families, other TN legislators were on hand for Biden’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention announcement.
This morning, I am extremely grateful for this incredible honor. This work can sometimes be exhausting, and occasionally the subjects try to retaliate. But I am lifted up by the difference that I can make in my community and the fact that the hard work is noticed. Thank you!
WATCH: “Anyone who believes there should be no exceptions for rape & incest could never understand what it’s like to stand in my shoes… to tell a 12yo girl she must have the baby of her stepfather who raped her is unthinkable.”

ICYMI — Chris Christie: "Why would you send Jared Kushner to the Middle East when you have Rex Tillerson and Mike Pompeo as Secretaries of State... We found out the answer two months after he left office, $2 billion from the Saudis." 🎯
