I taught the "small" class of OCIA at St. Mary's at TX A&M tonight. They started in the Spring & have 240ish. The BIG class isn't tallied up yet, but will probably be close to 450 (or more). This means there are nearly 700 young people exploring the Catholic Church at Texas A&M!

The Diocese of Fort Worth in Texas, under Bishop Michael Olson, has opened a new parish named after Matthew Ayariga, one of the 21 young men murdered by the Islamic State on a Libyan beach in February 2015.

A native of Ghana, Ayariga was reportedly not a Christian when he was captured alongside 20 Egyptian Christians.

According to some accounts, the courageous witness of his fellow captives inspired him during their captivity.

🇨🇦 Another historic church reduced to ashes.

At 3:30 AM Monday, the Saint-Simon Catholic Church ,the largest wooden church in New Brunswick and the heart of this Acadian community , was completely destroyed by fire.

Authorities are treating it as arson. Motion detectors went off. Flames started in the sacristy.

By morning, a century of baptisms, weddings, funerals and community life was gone.

This isn’t “just a fire.” It’s the latest in a long line of Canadian churches going up in flames while politicians look the other way.

Our Christian and cultural heritage is under open attack, and the silence from Ottawa is deafening.

The people of Canada deserve answers, justice, and a full Notre-Dame level rebuild not excuses.

Before I left Islam, I was debating a Sudanese Christian who challenged me to name one good thing about Muhammad. Just one.

I thought: easy. We Muslims practically worship Muhammad as the greatest man who ever lived.

So I tried to recall good qualities, honesty, compassion, mercy, love, anything, any single story, and I couldn’t remember one.

So I went to Google and typed: “the qualities of the Prophet.”

Islamic websites came up, and I thought, good, now I’ll have plenty of examples for this guy.

I opened them and was stunned: even the Islamic websites offered no good qualities in the sense he’d challenged me to find.

They praised his courage in spreading Islam, his fighting of Allah’s enemies, his physical strength, and his strictness.

Not one of the qualities the man had asked for.

Even the famous mercy at Mecca, sparing the people who had supposedly persecuted him, turned out to be for strategic reasons.

And when I started digging into the Quran and the sira for myself, I found that he married a child, he took Safiyya, a Jewish woman, the same day he killed her father, her brother, and her husband, trading his companion Dihya seven other captives for her, and posting a guard by the tent in case she tried to avenge them while raping her.

He had the men of the Jewish tribe beheaded, down to boys checked for pubic hair.

He raided trade caravans and took other tribes’ treasures.

He lied and broke truces he asked for.

He slept with all of his 9 wives the same night.

He killed anyone who mocked him.

He recruited raiders with the promise of other cities’ women.

And when his own fighters hesitated to touch married captives, because their husbands were alive and watching, Muhammad told them it was fine because allah said so.

Even the pagans of Arabia had higher morality than he did.

Every one of these acts was stamped with Allah’s approval.

He even married his adopted son’s wife by divine decree.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I left Islam when I met this disgusting man, a man who turned his qualities into a religion, transmitted it to every generation of Muslims since, and made himself the ceiling of their morality.

This is the man Mamdani wants you to learn from.

The tragic case of the young Cambridge professor, Jason Arday, has shed new light on the moral vacuity at the heart of Wokeism.

If I can state the matter abstractly, one should never place relative values in the center of one’s ethical concern. Only absolute goods belong in that location.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are values, but only, as the medievals would have said, secundum quid and not in se. That means they are worthwhile sometimes and under certain conditions, but not in themselves.

In contrast, love and justice are absolute moral principles, for they are always applicable, no matter the circumstances.

Wokeism relativized justice (rendering to each his due) and love (willing the true good of the other) and absolutized diversity, equity, and inclusion. The result is the moral shipwreck that we have been witnessing the last ten years.

What makes things even sadder is that lots of people have been profiting off of this moral confusion.

Today, we say goodbye to a 40-year-old mother of four.
Her death was a huge shock and we are all hurting right now.
She was a woman of great faith, hope and love.
She was a veterinarian who took care of so many broken animals and loved them back to health or gently guided them home.
She sang and played organ at mass, lifting our souls to the heavens.
She was a baker, a painter, a creator.
Her absence is so profound that it’s a presence.
I’m asking all of you to do something now:
Call the people you love and tell them you love them.
Tell them why you love them.
If you are mad at somebody for something petty or small, decide today to cowboy up and put it aside.
Talk to God.
Tell him how much you love Him. Thank Him for loving you first.
The only thing you and I know for sure is that we will stand before God in judgment.
Let’s live our lives in such a way that we are ready for that moment.
