Chef/owner @smugglerskerry restauranteur, bar, Smugglers cafe, store and guest house manager. Into all things wild, sustainable and regional that I can cook.
@RAI_ie@adriancummins I think our sector is slowing as of rising costs our regular people cannot sustain going out with all the rising costs. The season will be a quick snap for rural summer tourist season, spend will be down in city centre location but may have volume!

🚨150 Restaurants Closed in First Quarter of 2025 Due to Soaring Business Costs 🚨
The Restaurants Association of Ireland today released our Cost of Doing Business 2025 survey, revealing intense financial pressure on restaurants and hospitality businesses nationwide.
Over 170 business owners took part, painting a sobering picture of an industry facing rising costs, shrinking margins and deep uncertainty about the future.
In just the first three months of 2025, 150 food-led businesses closed their doors — a stark sign of a growing crisis and the urgent need for meaningful support.

Cost of Business is crippling the Food led Business sector including Cafes, Restaurants, Pubs and Hotels
There’s a disconnect between what State officials deem reasonable and what Small Business know is viable in terms of Increase Costs due to Government policy.
@adriancummins@MarkusLuthe Vat returns are enormous this year.. revenu down & costs out of control…. Will the trade be able to weather it out to the budget?
@scothospgroup@adriancummins@RachelReevesMP@UKLabour I sent politicians, explaining how if they put the VAT up to 13.5 % the knock on effect in a few years would be they may be reducing Hospitalities VAT to 4 percent to try and resuscitate the small independent food led sector, this year the real carnage is about to unfold…..
@RTENewsPaulC@FineGael@SimonHarrisTD@rtenews OMG, only for votes now and noting to do with viability of the sector… talk about panic stations, why didn’t they just do there feasibility study in all the measures they implemented at the one time. All this could of been avoided!!
@adriancummins They might start listening when Trump changes multinational taxes in the USA and import duties of foreign goods to America. What will it take for government to look after there own indigenous SMEs and wake up!!!!
Take heed @SimonHarrisTD@MichealMartinTD and other political leaders
The people that you’ve tried to brand as far right, fascists, racists, transphobe amongst other labels, see you. Just like Americans saw what was going on in their country.
Watch this. Maybe it’s not too late to change before the election!!!
Absolutely nails it here!
@adriancummins@RTE_PrimeTime There is something not mentioned in VAT people think we got the Vat down to 9 because of co vide but we got the reduced rate since the recession… and another point is the VAT on alcohol went from 21 to 23 percent since then so we paying more now than ever before all in.
