בגלל העניין והחשיבות הציבורית אני ורחלי החלטנו ביחד עם הגרדיאן שהסרט נז״א יהיה נגיש באינטרנט בחינם, ללא הגבלת זמן, כדי שכל אדם יוכל לצפות בו ובעדויות החיילים. זה יקרה בעוד כמה שבועות, בנובמבר, במועד הכי מוקדם שהצלחנו לקבוע. עד אז פנינו לבתי קולנוע בישראל והצענו להם את הסרט ללא עלות, בתקווה שיוקרן בארץ כבר עכשיו, במקביל להפצתו בבתי קולנוע בעולם. הצגתו תהיה החלטה אמיצה אל מול אלימות גדולה שמכוונת להסתרתו. אני יודע שיש ביקוש אדיר לצפות בסרט ואני מקווה שבאופן הזה כולם בקרוב יוכלו לראות אותו: בין אם בבתי הקולנוע ובין אם באינטרנט בעוד כמה שבועות.

הרבה דברים לא נכונים נאמרו עלינו ועל הסרט בשבוע החולף. הסרט מבוסס על תחקיר עיתונאי מקיף של שלוש שנים והפרטים בו מאומתים ומוצלבים. הוא ידבר בעד עצמו והאמת סופה להתבהר.

עשינו את הסרט כדי לעורר דיון ציבורי לגבי המעשים של הממשלה בעזה, ההרג של יותר מ73,000 בני אדם, רובם אזרחים, הנרמול של מלחמת השמדה, של התפיסה ש״אין בלתי מעורבים״. עשרים וארבעה חיילים וחיילות עשו צעד ודיברו מול מצלמה על מה שחברה שלמה לא רוצה לדבר עליו.

ההכרה בזוועות בעזה לא מפחיתה לרגע מהטבח הנפשע של השבעה באוקטובר, שחמאס אחראי עליו, שחיילים מדברים עליו בסרט, ושאין לו שום הצדקה. להפך. הרי ההתעלמות ממה שקורה בעזה היא מהגורמים שסללו את הדרך לשבת הנוראה ההיא. וההתעלמות הזו נמשכת.

עיתונות היא לא בגידה. ביקורת היא לא בגידה. זו חובה של כל אזרח שממשלתו מבצעת פשעים לדעת ושל כל חייל שהיה עד להם לספר. מסתובבים כאן אלפי חיילים כאלה, שיצפו בסרט ויזהו את מה שמתואר בו באופן אישי: את ההרג של אנשים לא חמושים שחוצים קו מדומיין, את אישורי הנז״א במאות, את התקיפות המערכתיות בבתי משפחות, את השריפה וההשמדה הפיזית של עזה, רצח וירי על אנשים רעבים במרכזי מזון ופשעים נוספים שאין להם הצדקה. גם אם זה מפחיד, זו חובתכם למצוא את הדרך להעיד על מה שראיתם. יגידו לכם שכדאי להסתיר את האמת למען הסברה בחו״ל, אבל זה קשקוש. שם יודעים כבר הכל. פשעים לא מסבירים אלא עוצרים. הסתרת האמת קודם כל מרעילה את החברה שלנו ומעל הכל מאפשרת לפגיעה בבני אדם בעזה להימשך.

ובנימה אישית: אני כותב על מדיניות האש של הצבא בעזה בעברית ב״שיחה מקומית״ כבר שלוש שנים. התחקירים זכו להתעלמות בישראל. עכשיו בפעם הראשונה משהו נסדק במסך ההתעלמות - וזה דבר חיובי. זה דבר בריא. כן, זה מגיע עם מחיר אישי גדול. היה שבוע קשה. אבל בתוכו גם יש המון תמיכה, והרבה נדיבות. מה שבטוח: האיומים לא יעזרו. זה לא מרתיע אותנו. אני ורחלי נחזור לארץ ונמשיך להיאבק על עתיד המקום הזה ביחד עם שותפים רבים.

Jerome "Donkie" Booysen was a gifted rugby player in his community when he grew up in the Western Cape. For two decades, he worked as a City of Cape Town building inspector.

In the 1990s, Jerome and his brothers (Colin and Michael) founded the Sexy Boys gang out of Belhar on the Cape Flats. Under him, the gang evolved from local drug turf distribution (specifically Mandrax and meth) into a massive corporate-style racketeering, extortion, and nightclub bouncer security monopoly alongside business associates like the late Mark Lifman.

The Sexy Boys gang operated as one of Cape Town's prominent "supergangs", functioning within a larger alliance framework tied to the Western Cape underworld and prison gangs.

Despite facing over 36 serious charges - including murder, racketeering, public violence, and possession of unlicensed firearms - Booysen has not been convicted yet. He has survived six separate assassination attempts.

For many years, South African law enforcement attempted to permanently address Booysen, resulting in prolonged legal battles with no success. Cases frequently stalled due to witnesses going into hiding or being silenced.

He is currently the main accused in the “Steroid King” Brian Wainstein murder trial. State prosecutors charge that Booysen, Mark Roy Lifman, and others orchestrated the 2017 assassination. Running parallel to the murder trial is a secondary, massive case focused entirely on his alleged role as the kingpin of the Sexy Boys gang's drug empire. This indictment features over 90 charges, including drug trafficking.

Following a reset after political upheaval, in April 2021, under Project Fenix, the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) successfully secured a R30.8-million preservation and restraint order directly against Booysen.

He was granted R100,000 bail in the murder case and R30,000 in the drugs case.

In 2010, SARS launched "Project Honey Badger" and in 2013, “Project All Out” to investigate illicit enterprises, cigarette smuggling, and underworld protection rackets. Booysen and Lifman became primary subjects. SARS audits scrutinized over 35 close corporations, properties, and trusts tied to their network, culminating in massive multi-million rand tax assessments and asset forfeiture threats to freeze their wealth. SARS designated Booysen as the "CFO" and his brother Colin as the "CEO/COO" of the Sexy Boys gang enterprise. Under a multi-year investigation codenamed “Project All Out”, SARS revealed that Booysen allegedly primarily purchased residential houses across Cape Town to use as localised drug distribution outlets. When police raids intensified, Booysen allegedly panicked that the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) would seize his real estate. To hide the assets, he integrated his operations with his close business partner, the late Mark Lifman, utilising Lifman's massive commercial and industrial property portfolio to mask the syndicate's wealth and storage needs.

By 2014, SARS had built a multi-million rand tax evasion case against the syndicate, issuing an initial R388-million tax bill to Lifman. However, because the syndicate possessed deep political ties, it was exposed that figures inside SARS deliberately blocked and frustrated the case.

Dear South Africans,

The world knows you are right. It is a fact you should hold onto, because the question now is not whether your case is just. It is whether you will be ready when being right - while under sanctions - becomes painfully expensive.

Washington does not care whether your position on Palestine or the Land Question is morally correct or legally justified. It will sanction you no matter how loudly you object, how carefully you quote international law, or how many times you prove that history is on your side. The rest of the world, and here I mean the Global South, ordinary Europeans, and a growing number of Americans, knows that you are not only correct but consistent with the deepest traditions of anti-colonial struggle and human dignity. That is precisely why the punishment is coming. American policy is not a seminar on justice; it is a machine of interest, and that machine is still oiled by racism - a hierarchy that places the Caucasian above the black African, the settler above the native, and the empire above the colonised. On Palestine and Israel, your principled position is the wrong side for Washington, not because you are wrong but because justice and fairness are not its concerns. Influence is. Control is. The preservation of a world order it still believes it owns.

They will not applaud your consistency. They will punish it, and they will dress that punishment in the language of extremism, antisemitism, ingratitude, and irresponsibility. They will freeze accounts, squeeze trade, threaten loans, isolate leaders, and fund friendly voices to tell you that surrender is sophistication and silence is maturity. If you do not intend to change course on the Land Question and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, then you had better begin working seriously on sanctions-busting - not as a slogan, not as a conference resolution, but as a national project. That means trade in other currencies and barter where the dollar is a weapon. It means banks, payment systems, and supply chains that do not kneel to Washington. It means deepening ties with BRICS, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Arab world. It means securing food, fuel, medicine, and technology before the screws tighten. It means manufacturing at home what you can no longer import. It means treating sanctions not as a surprise but as a forecast.

So do not wait for the storm to pass. Build the ark now. Because when the sanctions bite, they will not ask whether you were right. They will only ask whether you were ready. And history will not remember the comfortable. It will remember those who stood their ground and built a future that no empire could strangle. The world knows you are right. Now show them you are ready.
