This happened recently during my Delhi visit.

I booked an Taxi to Airport. I have a Habit to sit in front seat, and talk to drivers and know about their background and about ground realities.

The Driver with Name Madan Lal ( Name Changed), told that his father came from UP and settled in Delhi. He told that he has an elder daughter and two sons. Then he said something with moved me to the core.

When I enquired what his daughter wants to become, he said she wants to do be an Engineer, and then a firm but choked voice said I will leave no stone unturned to realize the dreams of my daughter. As a was sitting in the front seat, I could see that while Speaking his Eyes became moist. He said many years ago, in the Sahara Group, he had deposited around Rs. 1.5Lac , but then after collapse of Sahara, he lost all his sum and will get a maximum compensation of Rs. 2K, which is nothing compared to what i lost. He said although his important savings were lost, yeh he will ensure his daughter gets best education.

At this moment many thoughts were hitting my mind… When the ride ended, I told him that I will pay Bill to his Phone number. He gave the number which was of his wife Renu, and said that it is her wife’s account that is linked to Bank so that her wife uses it wisely for the children.

I told him about process to avail scholarship under Beti Bachao Beti Padao yojna and realise her dream. But my heart remained unsatisfied.

After 5 Days, I tried to do my Part and transferred some payment and informed him over phone. His words were Sahab itna paisa kyon diya, mein kaise chukaonga.. I said Bitiya ki jab Engineer ban jayegi Chuka dena. He was very emotional, his voice almost cracking, while retaining the self respect.
This emotion is a result of 1000s of years of Dharma in Hindu Mind.. I felt blessed to have been able to contribute to someone’s life.

RPR needs 3rd Luggage belt , currently there are only 2 , Annually more than 22 lakh pax going through RPR . Airport is not able to utilise it's full potential due to this. As new 4th Aerobridge & International Status is comming soon ,Authorities should issue new tenders quickly.
