(Like Air India aborts and 6E is unable to stop?). Chances too slim. I’m sure ATC has this much discretionary powers at least.

However, incidents, especially related to old, infirm, challenged passengers will keep recurring and “great airlines” are often prepared to handle such cases differently (often, far more happily).
