@swspurs James looked finished. I know he's barely played but the bloke looks like he can barely run. Just waddled out to their wide player every now and then. Back post positioning awful and did nothing in attack either. Unless he puts his injuries behind him there's no way he plays 2028
@England_Pod 🎵... Anger at idiots dressed in white.
Argentinian goal-mouths out of sight.
We sat back, we took flight.
It could have been all songs in the street.
Held on for a clean sheet.
But our tactics were shiiit.
And now I'm singing...🎵
@TouchlineX This panic is mental. Its 4 years! Players come through from nowhere.
Owen, Rooney, Kane. Nobody had them down in 94, 02 or 14 as the successors to be our best forwards at the next World Cup.
@England_Pod Thankfully I arrived at acceptance at 72 minutes when it became clear our players mentality was not going to be changed by the manager.
I think there needs to be a nationwide apology to Gabriel Clarke who was bang on with his mentality question IMO
@JamesMelville They weren't on the front foot when he made those subs.
We had been on the edge of our box for 15 minutes before this!
Subs made it worse, but they followed the pattern our players on the pitch had already set. Tuchel should have changed it then but he didn't.
@England_Pod Tuchel got the subs wrong, but this wasn't only on him. It's the same problem we've had for years. We go 1 up & stop playing. Fear takes over. We play not to lose instead of to win. Doesn't matter who the manager is until that mentality (see Gabriel Clarkes question) changes.
We’re frightened to death.
My whole life watching England has been the same.
Spain go 1-0 up, it’s game over for the opposition. They carry on controlling the game.
Whatever we are, whoever we appoint, it’s the same!
We are the epitome of fear of failure, so we do everything we can to try not to lose by holding on, rather than being brave to try to win!
Gutted
@CraigHope_DM This is all valid, but there were 15 minutes from the goal to the subs. In those 15 minutes we never moved out of our box, had no outball and Argentina created a lot. Tuchel then has a chance to change it and makes it even worse.
@mikeparry8 He scored on 55' and taken off on 72'. A period where every one of our players turned and ran for their own goal and didn't move.
No issue with him then being subbed off. But why that move was to put 5 at the back and remove the wingers is beyond me.
Exactly this. This is what Clarkes question was getting at and Tuchel misunderstood. Mentality is more than "finding a way" or last ditch defending. It also about being brave to get on the ball and pass it under pressure. Pathetic from us 2nd half. Again.
Sack Tuchel then what. Another manager comes in and we the exact same thing?
I don’t care if he stays or goes to be honest but it seems to be whatever gaffer is there it’s the same mentality, so tired and bored of going into our pathetic shells
@danielstorey85 Blame the manager, yes. Tactical changes were awful. But they only compounded the issue. We sat back well before the subs. Our players have the mentality of a league 1 side who are 1 up at Man City. We could have had 6 forwards on & we would still have been on the edge of our box
