How to hack her hormones as you become an ideal

Men get frustrated by mixed signals from women. They tell us to play it safe and respect consent, but also wish we’d just man up and sweep them off their feet. One minute they are settling down with docile “nice guys” who dote on them, and the next they are chasing virile “bad boys” who seize what they want in life.

Some guys throw up their arms at female changeability—why can’t they just use their big girl words instead of being so capricious? But imagine a guy who bought a sailboat, only to curse at it for responding to invisible forces instead of acting like a motorboat. We’d tell him to quit being an idiot and learn how his thing works. So what wind is driving women?

Our wives are cyclical creatures. Their bodies and moods move in predictable phases.

Before your eyes glaze over—you don’t need a gynecology degree or some hippy doula course to pick up what I’m laying down here. Just add this habit to your life: when your wife says, “ugh, my period started today,” pop open a note on your phone and enter the date.

That’s it—you’ve got the code to her matrix.

Your wife moves through life along a 28 day sine wave. The trough bottoms out right before day one. She’ll tend to be more frigid and risk-averse. Around day 14 is the peak, where she’ll be her most horny and adventurous. In between is a gradual shift between these two sides of herself.

Say you want to plan a weekend away with your wife. You’ve been looking forward to pushing the envelope in the bedroom. If you want to maximize the odds that things go well, schedule that on a weekend close to day 14 rather than day 1.

Say you’re wanting to dive into a project that’s going to take sustained time. Or maybe you want to catch up with some good friends. Scheduling that closer to day 1 will make it more likely that she’s in the mood for a little alone time herself (as long as she’s not left holding up some huge burden on her own).

If you’re game for it, you can really take it to the next level by showing different sides of yourself.

Near day 14, restrain some of that cuddly teddy bear energy, and lean into the alpha male tropes. When you walk in the door, push her up against the wall and kiss her powerfully. Sit in front of her while watching a movie and let her rub YOUR neck. Respond hard to her sexual openings and go harder in the bedroom.

Then closer to day 1, bring back the cuddles. This is the time where those sweet non-sexual gestures will land better. When you have sex, try more gentle lovemaking. Just generally take care of her more.

You can become a rare ideal that she can’t dream of living without. All that scary stuff that internet manosphere guys say about women’s hypergamous dual mating strategy, where she’ll exploit you for “beta bucks” while going after “alpha fucks”—that’ll have no power over you. To her, you’ll be that secret third thing.

Embracing cycles is a great way to live. Fall is my favorite season, but I’d rather experience all four of them than have my entire year filled with only colorful leaves and mild weather. In traditional Christian practice, we have periods of both fasting and feasting. They are both meaningful. Human bodies and minds enjoy things more if we abstain and then anticipate.

So consider seeing a potential fast/feast cycle for yourself parallel to her menstrual cycle. Look forward to channeling more sexual energy into projects and self-development during the less horny phase. Make sure to jump on the extra sexual opportunities closer to her ovulation.

None of this is artificial. It’s not chasing her validation or following her lead. A man with strong frame pursues his calling, which may clash with her feelings at times. But the good man isn’t a halfway point between a timid doormat and a reckless outlaw. He’s the genuine article of which those other two tropes are shrunken caricatures. He contains worlds.
