I thank her for pulling me into a story that meant so much to me. One I loved living with all my heart. I never really thought about how it would end. I was too busy feeling it, like a book so captivating I couldn’t close it. And if I could, I would have kept turning its pages.
Watching her fall out of love with me because every day she got up to go to work I stayed behind and watched vampire diaries the whole day.
It got to a point where I’d say “I love you and I miss us” and she just looked at me emotionless.
I vowed to never be like that ever again in my life. Broke is the worst thing that could ever happen to a man.
I think the reason men don’t relate to the postpartum conversation is because men are always expected to do things they don’t want to do and becoming a mother is one of the first times in women’s lives with a realize they have to do something that they don’t want to do…and There is nothing to fall back on or get out of it for the first time.
But for men This is often the norm.
