At the Mankato East debate meet we had special recognition in each division: 3-1 for Clark Hazard and Amanda Poetter in novice, 3-1 for Bel Lutterman and Leon Yang in jv, and Andrew Haefner and Dominick Lund-May went 3-1 and took 7th at the meet in varsity!

World Youth Day in Portugal was amazing and revealed that regardless of what the media says, there is a massive number of young people still seeking God and who want to be part of the visible Church. It stoked my own fire of faith!

The joy of encountering Jesus

This is the face of the spiritual father of 1.3 billion Catholics saying farewell to his spiritual children. Pope Francis is 86 years old (he only has one lung, walking with a stick, or riding on a wheelchair…) - after spending time with over 1.5 million young Catholics from over 200 countries in five intensive days of travels, speeches, prayers, stations of the Cross, adoration, Mass… the picture seems to tell us that the Holy Father leaving Portugal “rejuvenated” as he said when he first arrived in Lisbon five days. Of course, these 1.5 million young Catholics now are going home - some came from far away, and some probably will returning home to war torn countries… and most, if not all, will never have an opportunity to meet Pope Francis nor his successor in their life time - it does not matter to them any more - they had encountered Jesus in his Word, received sacraments, met the pope, met many new friends… They and the Pope are returning home knowing that Jesus will never abandoning them and that is enough for them and for us. — Fr.
