In its 19 Feb 2026 reassessment letter, @DisChemLife acknowledged that my cognitive impairments are associated with chronic pain, spinal issues, depression, and anxiety. It also recorded that my physical symptoms significantly contribute to my mood and cognitive difficulties.
These are not my words — they are the insurer’s own findings.
The difficulty is this:
The specialist reports I submitted link those physical symptoms and impairments to the documented accidents underlying my disability claim.
Yet the insurer’s position is effectively:
• the impairments are real
• the physical symptoms materially contribute to them
• but they are not directly connected to any acute accidental injury
That is the central contradiction.
The issue is not whether impairments exist — the insurer accepts that they do. The issue is whether the accepted impairments are being causally disconnected from the accidents despite the specialist evidence and witness testimonies linking them.
A prior recommendation also relied on an incorrect accident date. I formally corrected that factual error with supporting evidence.
Despite that, the insurer continues to rely on the earlier outcome rather than engage with the corrected facts and the specialist evidence directly.
The matter is now before the @NFO_Ombud and the @fscasouthafrica.
If an insurer can acknowledge the impairments, acknowledge the physical contribution, and still deny the claim without resolving the causation properly, it raises an important question about how these matters are being assessed.
