she/her Ian Fleming Scholar. Refugee’s child. Librarian. Champion pole dancer. Feminist. Costume designer. Soprano. Juggler, which makes sense, doesn't it?
Octopussy is my absolute favorite James Bond movie.
Perfect blend of serious spy stuff and a few laughs, Roger never better, Louis Jordan my favorite of all the villains and screenplay by Flashman creator George MacDonald Fraser. It is as close to a perfect movie as you can get.
In both the movie Dirty Dancing and the book The Spy Who Loved Me the character has an abortion and remains sympathetic. I would say SWLM tells the story even better, because the MC fights for her right to bodily autonomy and is proud to have done so. https://t.co/VTwRuD5dax
Sorry for my far left opinion, but every job should pay a living wage that allows people to actually live. If someone works at KFC, they should be able to pay their bills, meet their basic needs, and still save money, because that is what work is for.
Iranian-French filmmaker and graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi has sadly passed away at the age of 56.
Satrapi was best known for Persepolis and its acclaimed animated film adaptation, works that brought her international recognition and made her one of the most influential voices in contemporary graphic storytelling.
Her legacy spans literature, film, and advocacy for freedom, women’s rights, and human rights.
Rest in peace. 🖤
For Your Eyes Only (1981)
One of the most fun chase scenes in Bond history.
Pursued by villains in powerful cars, James Bond escapes in a tiny Citroën 2CV that rattles, bounces, and looks ready to fall apart at any moment. Yet somehow, this unlikely little car becomes the perfect getaway vehicle.
A hilarious and unforgettable reminder that skill can sometimes beat horsepower.
Daniel Craig said the reason James Bond movies got serious and dark was because of Austin Powers movies
“We had to destroy the myth because Mike Myers f*cked us.”
“I am a huge fan, but he made it impossible to do the gags."
MEN,
If your first instinct when a woman tells you about sexism is to think of a counterexample, you are not listening. You are arguing. Women do not need you to disprove their experiences.
They need you to stop being part of the problem.
