Hi, NHS Consultant Psychiatrist & person living with mental health condition here. Make no mistake, one of the most harmful things for our mental health - if not the most harmful - is poverty. It destroys lives & brings misery to many.
The cultural push of mothers into the work force and the glorification of "working moms" made the role of parenting almost trivial. Parenting and upbringing has the greatest impact on who someone becomes. Supporting parents to understand attachment theory, coping skills, and emotional intelligence is the focus in a healthy society.
People are so brainwashed they believe struggling with mental health they have only two options
1. Psychotherapy
2. Psychiatric drugs
How did the human race evolve without those two options?
Think beyond what they tell you

@amybetic Only you know what’s right for you & your needs. As a diabetes psychologist I hear often how Dexcom transforms people’s lives. If going for therapy make sure the therapist understands type 1 diabetes. Can you access a psychologist through your local NHS team?
Pop-psych 💩 I hate: no one will love you until you learn to love yourself.
Nope. We learn to love ourselves through the love we receive from others, ideally starting with our caregivers. Surround yourself with people who love you while you learn to love yourself 💓
