in a year we have 2 outta 3 very well made mcu films i mean like atleast my mcu standards with their own identity and barely any of the usual mcu bloat. now all i desperately need is for doomsday and secret wars to be good and we're fucking good to go.

1st thunderbolts now #bnd. what seperates them from typical mcu is that they dont fall back on the usual mcu cgi fuckfest. both films are character driven. instead of ending with another cgi slopfest, they end with emotional moments that actually complete their characters' arcs.

#spidermanbrandnewday succeeds visually in a way the previous spidey mcu films never did, in that they only really did one simple and logical thing. they simply allowed it have it OWN visual identity.

which is impressive bcuz besides his spidey suit, some of his mannerisms, the way he shakes his head, stands and moves, feel inspired by andrew garfield's spiderman. #SpiderManBrandNewDay

its ironic that tom holland has spent the odyssey press tour talking abt how working with nolan completely changed his outlook on acting, when his best performance this year & honestly of his entire career, is in #bnd. hes genuinely head & shoulders above anything hes done before

btw the best way to prep for #spidermanbrandnewday imo is to watch short term 12, the glass castle, shang chi and wonder man. that'll honestly help you way more than rewatching all the spidey movies. its a great spidey film and a good mcu film in general for one & only one reason

what makes #bnd work is that it doesnt care about world ending stakes. its mostly about peters loneliness & how he buries himself in being spiderman bcuz he feels noone cares about the person behind the mask. that loneliness mirrored in the antagonist & thats its biggest strength
