My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief who was tragically killed at yesterday's Trump rally in Pennsylvania. This morning, his daughter Allyson shared a deeply moving tribute to her father on Facebook, describing how he died shielding Allyson and her mother from the bullets that came at them. "We lost a selfless, loving, husband, father, brother, uncle, son, and friend...the best dad a girl could ever ask for,” she wrote. "He died a real-life superhero."
The impact of the rampant vitriol and divisiveness in today's political and media landscape – and, increasingly, political violence – isn’t isolated to presidential candidates or political parties. As this tragedy shows, it also takes an unimaginable toll on our country's citizens: American families with hearts and hopes, like the Comperatore family.
America has fallen off the precipice, but we can still climb back up. As a nation, we can overcome this. But we need to learn how to better understand and empathize with one another, converse with respectful dialogue, and regard differing viewpoints with dignity and respect.
A GoFundMe has been set up to support Allyson and her family: https://t.co/v9dzrnmLBA
My thoughts and prayers are with the Comperatore family.
You’re not lazy or unmotivated. After years of living in survival mode, you're emotionally drained. No amount of sleep in the world can cure the tiredness you feel. You have experienced soul loss, and developed a spiritual fatigue that can only be cured by soul nourishment.
I turned 25 today. It was my “plan” to be married by 22 and have my first child by 25, but here I am—single for over 8 years. I have always prayed to the Lord about becoming a wife and I’ve been praying for my future husband since I was a child. So I’ve wondered: Have I missed something? Has God forgotten me? Absolutely not.
I prayed a very specific prayer related to becoming a wife around 18 and God has remained faithful in answering it; I credit Him for protecting me from situations that I have no idea I could’ve been apart of had I not prayed that specific prayer.
I’ve spent my singleness living my life to the fullest—at least I’ve tried to; I don’t think that I’m doing a horrible job of it. When I was 20, I became a doula. When I was 21, I started my first business. When I was 22, I moved to Spain for 6 months and did a little bit of travel around Europe. I don’t think that I’ve missed something—I think that God is sovereign and has continually protected me in several aspects. He is faithful: that’s who He is.
I think that as Christians, especially Christian singles, we can start freaking out about who we’re going to marry and when, because it’s something that, frankly, we think about all the time. Trust me, I know. It’s especially hard when your friends are getting married and having babies. I attended a lot of weddings last year.
Throughout my early and mid 20s, I’ve learned that I’d rather have God’s protection than my perception of what is best for me. He knows what’s best for me, and it’s greater than my wildest dreams. We have to learn to trust the season that we’re in, but also, we have to learn to be responsible on our own part so that we’re able to steward the gifts that we’ve been praying for.
I never imagined that I’d be single for 8 going on 9 years when I was in high school, but I’m grateful, because God’s hand is all over my life. If you’re single and having a hard time dealing with it and dating seems impossible, know that you’re not alone, and that if you’re obedient to God, if you’re are staying involved in community and if you are waking with Jesus every day, you’re doing the right thing.
Can a woman forget her nursing child,
and not have compassion
on the son of her womb?
Surely they may forget,
Yet I will not forget you.

When my daughter was 18 months old, she figured out how to get out of her crib. Everytime we put her in it, she found her way out. She'll turn up at our room grinning with pride because she "escaped". It was frustrating but we got used to it. Everything was okay until one day...
A player just texted me back that she was no longer interested b/c she had committed to a different school. Unprompted, she sent me her team's schedule for the weekend b/c she said she has great teammates that are still looking for a home.
Be a great teammate, always!💎 #Respect
