1. Emotionally very exaggerated

If someone reads it and panics, that’s bad.

While I don’t agree with a lot of things here, I do agree with many of the points.

At Hotstar, I worked on a project handling around 5% of the VOD traffic. Given the scale, ensuring seamless playback was critical, and even the slightest issue could impact the user experience.

I was implementing an expiry token system and needed to introduce a new type of expiry token. However, rolling out this change directly could break ongoing traffic that relied on the existing token format. The challenge was clear: I had to support both the existing tokens and the new ones without disrupting the system.

To achieve this, I designed the solution to be backward compatible—meaning my updated code could handle both the old and new token formats.
