People are upset because 2 changes could make the movie more enjoyable.
A. Use a different city and set it in the game universe modern day so you can do what you want.
or
B. Just be lore accurate so we can feel we're getting a different perspective on an iconic event.
Since I know the Raccoon City in Resident Evil (2026) taking place in 2026 is a hot topic, I just wanted to point out that the Raccoon City in Resident Evil (2002) took place in 2002, and you'll barely read reviews complaining about it, if any.
#ResidentEvil
@PrCat88 Yeah I have accepted that the new film is not a resident evil movie so whatever but also. People didnt complain about the 2002 thing because it was so far down the list of other ridiculous things it never made it to genuine ridicule.
I also dont like how nonchalant hes been about his film being ANOTHER meaningless movie using the resident evil name without tying in to the universe... but he clearly got the references and just was wondering why he wasnt being asked about his movie.
@TheRealSwood I (in good faith) think they were really trying to make that movie feel as adult and realistic as possible to off-set that they were adapting a comic book. But thats because hollywood is full of theatre kids resentful of what they deem "nerdy"
