The @jrf_uk have an important report out today on the rise in destitution in the UK. This isn't relative poverty but people and families without adequate shelter, food or heat. You can see the numbers who are destitute, particularly children, has shot up.

Pensioner poverty has halved in the last 20 years - which is great - but child poverty hasn't gone down at all.

Same same in int'l dev education. Millions spent on trends, exporting high resource (usually western) teaching solutions into contrasting contexts without due consideration of what's working vs what's not. Problems are defined from afar rather than understood up close.
