@blogTO A typhoon near Okinawa can be hundreds of kilometers away from Tokyo and have no direct impact there. Okinawa is in a subtropical region where typhoons are much more common than in Tokyo.
@Notatrainer@blogTO@MayorOliviaChow John Tory won the bid for FIFA, The venue operator and FIFA’s official parking contractor handle event parking sales and pricing for official FIFA parking lots. We were effed way before..
@Tablesalt13 if federal contracts open up, veterans likely won’t vanish from the sector. They may simply be spread across more employers instead of concentrated in one century-old institution. The uniform changes, the skill set stays.
@Tablesalt13 Commissionaires Canadas contracts are made up of,
48% Federal Government
52% Commercial clients
And only 18% of their workforce are veterans. This change only affects the Federal Government contracts, many other security firms hire veterans.
@Tablesalt13 Ending special contracting rights means they lose guaranteed priority, not eligibility.
Commissionaires Canada could still bid on contracts and win them the same way any qualified contractor would: by submitting the strongest proposal.
@PierrePoilievre What you’re describing may feel politically controversial or unfair to some voters, but it is generally legal and part of how Canada’s system is designed to work . Unless there’s evidence of actual illegal activity (like bribery or coercion).
@AaronGunn Canada is rich in oil, but gasoline prices are global, taxed, and infrastructure-dependent. Building pipelines won’t drop gas prices. Maybe start with reducing the 30%+ in taxes?
@JayGenXer Canada has lots of oil, but:
It’s expensive to produce, It’s sold at global prices and taxes and logistics add significantly to the price.
So being resource-rich doesn’t translate into cheap gas—especially in a globally integrated market.
@Candace16821073@CynFarmGirl@CramerSez Yes because children in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s were routinely vaccinated against whooping cough (pertussis) as part of the DTP or DTaP vaccine series, which also includes protection against diphtheria and tetanus.
