“How do you work on locating?”
I get asked this every day.
1) Reduction of variance in mechanics. Go make your mechanics as repeatable as possible.
2) Reduction of head movement. Make it as easy as possible for your body to see and maintain the target location.
Alex Walker having a stellar debut. His second touchdown pass of the first quarter goes to Jackson Wilson who takes the hit like a champ. Bradley Central 14, Brainerd 7. 2:28 1Q. #BestofPreps
When athletes move faster, they get more efficient and their mechanics are more repeatable. I often say, “pitching is a sprint.”
When they slow down, they introduce more time to mess up and be less repeatable.
When an athlete is trying a new movement or mechanical change, I really don’t care where the ball goes. I give the athlete permission to try by vocalizing this. “I don’t care where it goes.”
Permission to try and fail is so powerful.
