@scottishgreens Funded Childcare in Scotland is universal not means tested.Who will be paying for this? The taxpayer?Or what services will you be cutting to fund it? Btw it’s not FREE it’s taxpayer funded! @2020Together@earlyyearsscot @NdnaScotlandOur childcare system works, why try 2 break it?
@ginadavidsonlbc@LetAlbaFlourish Number of childminders has halved in 10yrs. 90% of places for < 3 provided by pvi nurseries. Funded at rates up to 50% less than public sector counterparts. Without pvi onside policy is a non starter. @2020Together
@ginadavidsonlbc A new system without consulting the pvi sector will never work. Issues with 1140hrs still not resolved 7 yrs in…lessons not learned..it’s not free it’s funded by the taxpayer. Nothing is free. @2020Together
@theSNP@haughey_clare Who’s paying? Are you working with the PVI sector to keep them onside? Or is this an example of a hollow headline to grab votes and destroy family business?
@GiveTimeScot It’s just soul destroying, meantime young people and their families fall through the cracks and the spiral of decline starts. Which can be avoided with timely and meaningful interventions. You guys giving them a voice needs applauded. Let’s pray things change for the better soon
@GiveTimeScot It’s ‘talking about us without us’ it’s a common theme throughout scottish public life. Policy gonks seem to know better than those experiencing things first hand. It’s a frustratingly strange way to operate 🤷🏻♂️ and think solutions will present themselves
@suzannezeedyk@UpstartScot Well said @suzannezeedyk the issue is more complex and nuanced which needs better understanding by policy makers. We need £ support, a kindergarten approach and an early years workforce that is appreciated and rewarded appropriately. Politicos need to listen to us on the ground
@2020Together@CareInspect@EducationScot@ELCScotGov@NatalieDon_@earlyyearsscot@NdnaScotland Normally in the commercial world the customer is always https://t.co/jPnq3pHewv seems when the customer expresses a view that’s counter to the perceived wisdom it’s frowned upon.U need 2 listen 2the feedback, be open, transparent and welcoming to our views.Don’t hide, embrace & act
@2020Together@SSSCnews@NatalieDon_@ELCScotGov The pay gap of £4ph (cosla pay deal £16ph for staff vs RLW £12 ph for PVI) isn’t closing, membership fees paid for LA staff as part of the pay deal widens the gap to a chasm. #2tiercare rather than address the elephant pvi being asked for cost data again.More hoops to justify pvi
@ASNReformScot Have you seen this @GiveTimeScot ? Where will the children’s & parents voice be if this passes. How does sit well within GIFEC and their rights within UNCRC 🤷🏻♂️
@suzannezeedyk Thank u @suzannezeedyk. Our sector need 2 hear this from influencers like you, and our politicians need to listen to what u say by backing the whole sector by levelling the £4ph pay gap between LA & PVI, fund each child the same, whilst valuing staff equally. #equalpay4equalplay
@GiveTimeScot@KateJohnston3@UniStrathclyde@Strath_FAI Spot on again guys. I shared this research with my daughter’s year group parents when she was placed in a composite P1/2 class 2yrs ago. She was a deferral and was in the same class as kids born the same yr she was. The findings of the research held true, giving parents comfort
@GiveTimeScot Have they just given grounds for a legal challenge? Seems to be a peculiar hill for them open up rather than to read the room and act in the best interests of their families. Trying to save a shilling when it will cost them many pounds, their credibility and future voters🤷🏻♂️
@2020Together@elc1140@scotgov@NatalieDon_ Welcome to the dystopian reality of ELC in the uk where one hand doesn’t seem to know what the other is doing.A distressed workforce, frustrated employers& regulators disconnected from the real life impact of 1140, post COVID issues on staff & children . Change 4 change sake🤷🏻♂️
