$USAR NEWS: $19.3M DoE Funding
The U.S. Department of Energy has selected the company to receive up to $19.3M in federal funding for a pilot-scale rare earth element separations project.
The funding, subject to final negotiation, comes from the DOE’s Critical Materials Innovation, Efficiency and Alternatives program. The award will support development of domestic processing capacity for rare earth elements used in energy, defense and advanced manufacturing supply chains.
The total project value is approximately $50.5 million, including the potential DOE funding and $31.2 million in non-DOE funding. Final project scope, budget and timeline will be determined through negotiations with the DOE.
"We are honored to be selected by the Department of Energy under its critical materials innovation program," said Barbara Humpton, Chief Executive Officer of USA Rare Earth. The company holds more cash than debt on its balance sheet, according to InvestingPro analysis, positioning it well to manage the project’s $31.2 million non-federal funding requirement.
