https://t.co/1Hf8nughQh Even though Egypt vowed to have poverty halved by 2020 and eliminated completely by 2030 they are going in the wrong direction. One vendor states "I sell a lot of bones for soup". Hopefully this is just a short term effect of the reform. #Econ466SDSU
@DylanGr77472042 While the inflation decrease is a good thing, seeing that the real interest rate is very high is concerning. Hopefully we will start to see that lower so Egyptians can start small legitimate business rather than doing transactions under the table.
@SchmidtTanner We like to see Egypt encouraging investment, really from anybody. When people believe in the future of Egypt and continue to invest, this is why economist predict that this upcoming few years is going to be positive for the country.
@lina_hannegan personally I believe that prison's can be a good indicator as to how a country's core beliefs and morality is. When you read an article like this it's concerning as it can easily sway your whole image on how one views a country. Hopefully we some changes in this system.
@KylaRob55271476 We see recently that Egypt is capitalizing on efficiently using things state assets such as power plants. This is hopeful in that Egypt does have a lot of resources that could be used for growth in the near future.
https://t.co/wRW51wAmtC Just last week in "Africa's Business Heroes" two Egyptian startups won 215k out of the total 1million in prize money awarded at the event. Things like this always show promise for an economy that isn't consistently growing every day #Econ466SDSU

This article really shows how simple economic fixes can really do wonders for an economy, especially a struggling one such as Egypt's. With something as simple as reducing differences b/w income and expenses we see big change down the road.
@KylaRob55271476 It's concerning that Sisi is attempting to privatize military-run companies but at the time if it does provide economic opportunity to ordinary Egyptians this would be huge for the country as we see that ordinary Egyptians struggle the most financially. #Econ466SDSU
@DylanGr77472042 This awesome to read, Dylan. This is the first article I've seen that even mentions Egypt and renewable energy in the same sentence. I'm hopeful that these advances will not only help Egypts pollution problem but also create jobs and stimulate economic growth #ECON466SDSU
@lina_hannegan The extension of the state of emergency is a disappointment as Egypt has already been in it for 2 years. Hopefully with this upcoming year we can see Egypt become a safer place and with that economic growth will be rising at the high rate that has been projected. #ECON466SDSU
https://t.co/3GzyfnFrLp This is hopeful to Egypt's economy because we see lots of outside investors planning to join the economy for the 2020 fiscal year. Egypt's economy has been struggling to attract outside investors since 2011 uprising which ended Mubarak's 30 year ruling.
@SchmidtTanner With rain in Egypt coming only a handful of times a year, the Dam systems are crucial to ensure that there is enough water in the state at all times. It's concerning that the Dam project is facing obstacles but hopefully we will see this project move forward in the near future
@KylaRob55271476 Seeing intervention of the US is promising because not only can Egypt benefit but us living in the United States can also benefit from an intervention such as the one currently going on.
@DylanGr77472042 While continued reform of the private sector seems to be helping the Egyptian economy we'll have to see if freezing electricity prices proves to be an affective move by Egypt's Minister of Finance
@lina_hannegan It's become increasingly normal to see government intervention in Egypt. Hopefully in this next year we can start to see Egypt begin to take steps to be more independent.
@SchmidtTanner This is awesome to read about because for so long Egypt has had a reputation of not caring about the environment and waste pollution so it's good to see they are moving in the right direction.
@DylanGr77472042 While on the surface level it's hopeful to see Egypt getting help from the IMF it's important to look deeper and realize that Egypt has not been improving on their own without help in some time. Hopefully in near future we will see them be more independent of the IMF.
