St. Gabriel’s tightens security after student allegedly threatens schoolmate with gun
St. Gabriel’s College in Bangkok’s Dusit district has tightened security and taken disciplinary action after a student allegedly assaulted another student and threatened him with what appeared to be a gun.
Video circulated on social media showed a group of students kicking and punching another student, with one appearing to pull out a gun during the confrontation. Foundation for Justice Restoration Campaign vice-president Raphatsit Phatarasirichaisin said information provided by a parent identified the student who allegedly brandished the weapon as the son of a provincial councillor in the Northeast. The claim has not been independently confirmed.
The school said the incident occurred outside its grounds and that it had interviewed students, parents and others involved while coordinating with police. It said disciplinary action had been taken in accordance with school regulations and relevant laws.
The school has also increased security on and around the campus and stepped up monitoring of the students involved. The affected student is receiving psychological support and additional protection. Police have yet to publicly confirm whether the object seen in the video was a real firearm.
