I've never understood the prodigal son and big brother was actually about the Pharisees.
Now I can't unsee this.
Brilliant teaching from Voddie about how works righteousness has left us all blind.

There are no "ex-Christians".
Many falsely think that believing that God exists, or attending a church building makes you a Christian.
Therefore, people think you "leave Christianity", because you stop doing those things.
However, being a real Christian means you've been saved by Jesus, & have been in-dwelt and sealed by the Holy Spirit.
If that never happened to you, then you never were a Christian to begin with.

We live as if our standing with God depends on what we bring to the table—our good works, our spiritual consistency, our ability to get it right.
But our acceptance isn't based on our performance; it's secured by Christ's blood shed once and for all.
Hebrews reminds us that Jesus entered the Most Holy Place not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood, "having obtained eternal redemption" (Hebrews 9:12). This wasn't a temporary fix or a conditional arrangement—it was a permanent solution that covers every failure, every weakness, every moment when we fall short.
Your standing before God isn't determined by today's devotional time, yesterday's mistakes, or tomorrow's struggles. It's established by the finished work of Christ.

“I like to brag on Jesus, do you? I think we should be bold about that so that people know this is not about us, this is about the One who loved us and gave Himself for us.”

When the Holy Spirit Controls Your Life | Dr. David Jeremiah
"The root of sin in each of our hearts is extremely deep, and this is the basic cause of the world's problems; only the fire of the Lord can burn it out." —Billy Graham
“Exhort one another every day, as long as it is called ‘today,’ that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” Hebrews 3:13
Speak a word today that protects your brother or sister from being deceived.
True blessing isn't about having everything go your way. It's about having the King of the universe as your companion, guide, and friend.
Kingdom life with the King means you're never truly alone, never without purpose, never beyond the reach of His grace. You might face struggles, but you face them as His beloved child. You might experience loss, but you can't lose your place in His heart.
What does "kingdom life with the King" look like in your everyday moments?
"The Bible says that He searches the heart. Think of it. The great God of Heaven searching your heart. He's in there searching and probing." —Billy Graham
Isn't it strange how life works?
We expect tests during difficult seasons—they make sense then. But when they come right after our victories, suddenly we're questioning if we did something wrong.
But maybe these tests aren't punishments—maybe they're preparation. Victory can make us self-reliant; trials remind us we still need Him. Success can make us comfortable; challenges keep us dependent on His strength.
Are you surrendered to Him today?
God is still good,
even when I don't understand.
God is still faithful,
even when it doesn't make sense.
God still has a plan,
even when I can't see it.
God still reigns,
even when things look like chaos.
God is still near,
even when I can't feel Him.
God is still God.
Here's what changes everything:
Nothing in your story surprises God or slips from His grasp.
Not the decision you regret from five years ago.
Not the problem keeping you up tonight.
Not the curve ball heading your way next month.
The hands that formed the mountains and flung the stars into space?
They're the same hands holding your past, present, and future.
What are you trying to control that you need to release into His hands today?
