A couple weeks ago, someone asked me if my books had ever been banned. I said, "not yet." This week, Racial Innocence: Performing American Childhood from Slavery to Civil Rights, was one of 381 books removed from the library of the Naval Academy. https://t.co/nOzn0sm0Gi
In CA, “This group refused to be silenced. They mobilized their community, pushed back against censorship driven by fear, and ultimately staged their production... But that hurdle seems to be the beginning of a larger issue of silencing and oppression.” https://t.co/AmGEpVD7aE
Unexpected kindness abounds today! Was given leftover coffee cake from a just-ended campus event, and then a different person bought me a coffee, just because. Whatever the rest of the day brings, can’t take away a nice morning.
Don't miss our first (FREE!) virtual event of the academic year! Please note: This event will be focused on theatre studies in general, not specifically musical theatre and/or dance studies. We welcome all of our colleagues to join.

Mostly on a whim, grabbed a ticket for Romeo and Juliet (never seen it staged) at the ART, and so many tween girls are here, most taking selfies in front of this picture. They are adorably excited.

The second best part about helping out with @RegisCollege_MA move-in this Saturday is the spiffy t-shirt. (The best part will be meeting the students!) can’t believe fall semester is starting…
Having seen The Great Gatsby (Bway) and Gatsby (A.R.T.), I want the 2 to magically merge. There‘re things both shows do well & things both don’t do well as adaptations, but w little overlap btwn where they separately go right/wrong. I want all the right bits in the same show.
I truly hate the new system of having to self-tag bags for flights. It causes confusion, anxiety, and chaos. Just let me stand in a normal line for 10 minutes and have airport staff do their thing with my stuff. If this wasn’t an internat’l flight, I’d stick to carry on!
Very appreciative of the @nypl_lpa for hosting the Song, Stage, and Screen conference, and of all the hard work of the organizers. I enjoy hearing all the innovative work from all sorts of scholars!
