First draft of the lit review for my thesis has been submitted.
My professors on Monday: "Why is von Moltke the Elder cited-- in the original German no less-- in a paper on maritime archaeology?"
@rjfaber91@fakehistoryhunt The first guy it looked like he'd got hit across the face with the flat side of the shovel followed by a couple of whacks to the skull the same way then one glancing blow with the edge basically starting at the hairline.
@rjfaber91@fakehistoryhunt In both cases, a combo of both. The first guy was alive when we (I was an EMT back then) got to him.
The second was "dead...several times over" to quote the euphemistic description of his injuries from one of the detectives.
The "Fyfty" album from @Skynyrd closes with the best version of "Gimme Three Steps" I have ever heard. Johnny going "Gary....sic em" was a beautiful way to intro it and it is a fitting tribute to one of the true greats.
Gary, your memory shall forever be a blessing.
