4th Battalion, The Rifles is a #SpecInf Battalion. Chosen Men, handpicked for their maturity to work alongside partners in the Middle East and North Africa.
I had the privilege of attending the 1 RIFLES fire team comds cadre dinner. I spoke about the importance of using their rank to do more for thier people, leaving a legacy and about the lessons I have learned on my journey, an impressive bunch that hammered me for my red jacket...
Nothing better than being back among fellow Riflemen.
Old friends from @4_RIFLES. Thriving in their role with @SpecInfGp - Chosen Men. Great fun talking to them & their families.
Privilege to award hard earned Iraq & Afghanistan medals - some receiving both. Swift & Bold
Outstanding first visit to the British Army by Jim McConville, 40th Chief of Staff of the US Army; a great ally and supporter. Shared priorities: people, readiness and modernisation to face any threats, together. #ShoulderToShoulder
10 years on from the long, tough 2009 summer in Helmand. Courageous & irrepressible Riflemen - no one better to stand shoulder to shoulder with. @4_RIFLES @pwsbaines @RiflesRegiment
Today, 10th July 2019, marks 51 years since the formation of The Light Infantry in 1968. They would go on to serve with distinction for nearly four decades, until they were finally amalgamated with three other regiments to form The Rifles on the 1st February 2007.
Another outstanding result from Bisley! The four members of @4_Rifles selected to be the British Army A team have won the international falling plate competition. The first time this competition has been won by a British team.

Huge congratulations to our Shooting Team taking second place as the Army Operational Shooting Competition for the third year running. Behind all the silver wear is months of hard work paying off. @SpecInfGp @1UKDivision#SwiftandBold#specinf
Spirits high out in Kenya. A Coy training hard on #ExAskariSpear19, under command of @2PWRRTigers. It’s an austere & challenging operating environment, with rich ‘human terrain’. The final phase sees A Coy deploy across the border to Uganda to work with a partner force.
The @2rgrCo team take the lead going into the final day, by a whisker. It’s last year’s top two teams at Bisley battling it out to be the 2019 @1UKDivision combat shooting champions.
9158 points against 9065.
The RGR lead is less than 1%.
Go @4_RIFLES#ChosenMen
We say farewell to two brilliant OCs. OC A Coy, who spearheaded our efforts in Afghanistan. And OC R Coy, who started up an enduring commitment in Iraq. Huge contributions to our formative years as a #SpecInf Battalion. Legacies to be proud of.
Thank you, well done & good luck.
As our shooting team heads up to Catterick, ahead of the Divisional Championships, members of R Coy are down on Ash ranges, exchanging marksmanship tips with members of the GB full bore shooting team. @4_RIFLES#SpecInf
“Your teams have been sent to work all over the world making each new deployment a different challenge.”
“Often in arduous terrain and unfamiliar climates, your ability to adapt quickly to cultural and physical demands are an enormous credit to this formidable Battalion.”
The Duchess of Cornwall today attended a medals parade for the 4th Battalion The Rifles at New Normandy Barracks, Aldershot.
