🚨 JUST IN: New York lawmakers are pushing a bill that replaces “mother” and “father” with terms like “gestating parent” and “non-gestating parent” in parts of state law.

And yes, that sounds exactly as insane as it reads.

This is not New York “outlawing” the words mother and father everywhere. But it is a real bill that says it would replace those terms with gender-neutral language in sections of family law and parentage law. The bill summary flat-out says it “replaces the terms father, mother, and filiation to gender neutral language.”

The text goes even further. In multiple sections, “mother” becomes “gestating parent,” and “father” becomes “non-gestating parent” or “alleged parent.”

That’s the part normal people are reacting to.

Because this is what happens when politicians get so lost in ideology they start rewriting the most basic words in the language. Mother is not outdated. Father is not outdated. The problem is not the English language. The problem is lawmakers who think regular families are the ones that need to bend.

And before anybody tries to spin it, this bill is not law yet. New York’s Senate page says it passed the Senate and was returned to the Assembly on June 2.

But the direction is plain as day.

They are not just changing policy.
They are changing language.
And they always do that first.
