Every year ~3500 Canadians die from the flu. In 2016, Jude was one of them. The flu is preventable when we all take action to protect ourselves and each other.
Please remember that 'peaked' doesn't mean 'over'. Flu is still circulating.
Jude should turn 12 on Friday. He died on May 6th, 2016, from influenza B - months after flu season peaked. Please take steps as you're able to protect yourself and others.

Before you go to the party, how are you feeling? Are you really well? Is there a chance you’d be showing up with illness that might put someone else at risk?
It’s hard to miss out, but it’s better to stay home and protect the people you love. Stay well, all.
#ForJudeForEveryone
Thank you to Minister Jones for reminding people to get their #FluShot. Everyone who gets the flu gets it from someone else. Getting your flu shot now can help protect you & others around you, now and through the 2nd wave (flu B) of flu season. Stay safe, all.
#ForJudeForEveryone
We keep talking about Jude because his life was important and he deserved more than the two years and change he got. We will love and miss him for the rest of our lives.
I don't want your family to be in our shoes. Take care to protect yourselves and others. #ForJudeForEveryone
No vaccine is a guarantee, but the #FluShot significantly reduces risk of illness or severe outcomes if you do get sick. While the H3N2 component may not be as close as we'd hope, it can still help protect you from hospitalization or worse. Please go.

Devastated for these families. I'm just so sorry.
It's not too late to get your #FluShot. Flu season is long, and influenza B, which peaks later, is also really tough on kids.
Your shot helps protect against two A strains (H3N2, H1N1) and flu B. Go now. #ForJudeForEveryone
There's a lot of flu out there right now, team. The #FluShot significantly reduces your chance of infection, or your chance of severe outcomes if you do get sick. It is not a guarantee. It does save a lot of lives. This is the time. #ForJudeForEveryone

Each action reduces your risk and risk to others. Take steps as you're able to help protect yourself and everyone you come in contact with. Stay well, all.

It takes up to 2 weeks to develop immunity from your #FluShot. Go today to help you and your loved ones have a happy, healthy holiday season! You can also reduce risk by staying home when unwell, wearing a mask, and washing hands often.
Spread cheer, not flu. #ForJudeForEveryone
9 years ago today T and I ambushed the Prime Minister, asking him to lead by example with his #FluShot to help people keep their lives and loved ones. Year after year, @JustinTrudeau showed up, and continued this year as a private citizen. Thank you, always.

We never know whose life we might save when we take steps to prevent the flu. Your #FluShot reduces the risk you'll get sick, or pass it to someone more vulnerable. It takes up to 2 weeks to develop immunity from your #FluShot. Plan ahead, and stay well, all. #ForJudeForEveryone
Sad day, and this outcome was predictable.
Let’s look back. How did we get to this point? The outbreak in Ontario started on October 28th, 2024.
Measles is simple to prevent. The vaccine is ~97% effective with both doses. When we have high uptake, we don’t have measles. #onpoli
It is normal and okay to have questions about your health. Please talk to a doctor or nurse practitioner with any questions.
Vaccines work. We don’t vaccinate against disease because they’re uncomfortable or inconvenient, but because when we don’t, people die. #onpoli
It's normal and okay to have questions about your health. Speak with a doctor or nurse practitioner for more information. The #FluShot is your best first defense, but it's only one part of a good #FluPrevention plan. Take each step you can to reduce risk.

It takes up to two weeks to develop immunity from your #FluShot. It isn't a guarantee, but the flu shot helps protect against influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and influenza B. H3N2 and B are particularly hard on seniors and young kids. Make your plan now.
#ForJudeForEveryone
Have you made your plan for your #FluShot yet? We don't all wear capes, but we can all take small steps to help protect ourselves and each other. Get yours now and help us all have a safer, healthier season ahead.
Happy Halloween, and stay well, all!

Each step we take to protect ourselves from the flu also helps protect people we may come in contact with. What can you do to help?
• get your #FluShot
• stay home sick
• wash hands >8x/day
• wear a mask
• cover coughs/sneezes
#ForJudeForEveryone
No one method of prevention offers a 100% guarantee you won't get the flu, but each step you take helps reduce your risk and the risk you may pass flu on to others.
Make your plan to protect yourself and your community this year. Whose life could you save?
