Pakistan posted a Current Account Surplus of $459 million in May 2026, rebounding strongly from a $276 million deficit in April 2026 and improving significantly from a $44 million deficit in May 2025.

The latest monthly surplus has pushed the cumulative 11MFY26 Current Account into surplus territory, underscoring the continued strengthening of Pakistan’s external position.

Serious allegations raised in the Senate Finance Committee have once again put the Engineering Development Board (EDB) and the Ministry of Industries under intense scrutiny.

Senator Faisal Vawda reportedly claimed that a powerful nexus within the system has facilitated benefits worth nearly Rs 100 billion to a specific cartel, causing significant alleged revenue losses to the national exchequer. He further demanded immediate action, including arrests and accountability of those responsible.

The senator’s remarks, made in the presence of the Finance Minister, FBR Chairman, and other committee members, also included sharp criticism of economic decision-making and regulatory oversight.

If these claims are accurate, they point to a deeper structural issue—where policy, regulation, and influence collide at the expense of public money. Such serious accusations cannot be brushed aside with political rhetoric; they require transparent, independent, and immediate investigation.

Pakistan’s economic crisis cannot be addressed if accountability remains selective.

وزیراعظم محمد شہباز شریف کی زیر صدارت گلگت بلتستان میں 100 میگا واٹ شمسی توانائی کے منصوبے پر جائزہ اجلاس آج اسلام آباد میں منعقد ہوا.

اجلاس سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے وزیرِ اعظم نے کہا کہ وفاقی حکومت گلگت بلتستان کے عوام کے لیۓ 100 میگا واٹ شمسی بجلی کی فراہمی منصوبہ کے تمام تر اخراجات اٹھائے گی.

وزیرِ اعظم نے ہدایات دیں کہ منصوبے پر کام کی رفتار تیز اور منصوبہ جلد از جلد مکمل کیا جائے اور تمام مراحل میں شفافیت یقینی بنانے کے لئے غیر جانبدار تھرڈ پارٹی ویلیڈیشن کرائی جائے.

اجلاس میں متعلقہ حکام نے گلگت بلتستان میں وفاقی حکومت کے سولر منصوبے کے حوالے سے بریفنگ دی.

بریفنگ میں بتایا گیا کہ گلگت بلتستان کی سرکاری عمارتوں کے لئے 18 میگا واٹ شمسی توانائی کا منصوبہ ہے. گلگت اور دیامیر ڈویژنز کی سرکاری عمارات کے لئے 18 میگا واٹس کا منصوبہ دسمبر 2026 جبکہ بلتستان ڈویژن کی سرکاری عمارات کی سولرائزیشن کا یہ منصوبہ اکتوبر 2026 تک مکمل ہو گا.

بریفنگ میں مزید بتایا گیا کہ گلگت، سکردو، چلاس اور خپلو میں گھروں کے لئے 82 میگاواٹ کے شمسی توانائی کا منصوبے پر بھی کام جاری ہے.

اجلاس میں وفاقی وزیر منصوبہ بندی احسن اقبال ،وفاقی وزیر اقتصادی امور احد خان چیمہ ، وفاقی وزیر پاور ڈویژن سردار اویس احمد خان لغاری، وزیر برائے امور کشمیر و گلگت بلتستان انجینئر امیر مقام اور متعلقہ اعلیٰ سرکاری افسران نے شرکت کی۔

Lets stick to current budget to respond concisely instead of political debate, Budget must always be reviewed in trend analysis.

Major concerned factor of budget expenditure is interest payment which in 8054 Bn forested in current year, it appears a staggering myriad number, but in actual interest payment to total budget ratio is 43% in current year, an year before it was 47% in 2025, 52% in 2024, 50% in 2023.

In addition to above Govt has reduced the fiscal deficit to almost half in 3 years which was 6.5% (6906 Bn) in 2023, 5.9% (7283 Bn) in 2024, 3.9% (5037 Bn) in 2025, and in current budget it at 3.6% (5226 Bn)

Further, improved primary surplus to a comfortable zone, in 2023 primary surplus was 0.3% (397 Bn) in 2024 it was 2% (2492 Bn), in 2025 it was 2.4% (3170 Bn), and in current year it is forecasted at 2% (2828 Bn)

That why when it is said DEFAULT to PROGRESS it is backed by factual numbers.
