@beetle67a@ZhardcorecC I have to go to bed but please stop reading into scripture what you want it to say. There is plenty of "meat on the bone" without our preconceptions.
Nothing in scripture speaks of a pope. Church gov't yes! But a man who can make zero mistakes in excathedra = no
@beetle67a@ZhardcorecC Not a single mention of Peter being in a position of authority. Instead Peter says "God...bore witness to them by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us and made no distinction between us and them...."
It's fairly clear that this Pope this is a farce.
@beetle67a@ZhardcorecC You didn't answer the questions.
and no, the text does not say he received it "right then" but even if he had it doesn't matter....God gave him grace to believe and chose him as one of the elect just like every other Christian.
@beetle67a@ZhardcorecC Also, didn't Paul correct Peter. And also James (Jesus brother - the perpetual virginity of Mary is out) was head of the council Peter sat under in Acts 15.
The claims you make are extra biblical. Solely propagated by a church gov't that wants to maintain power.
@beetle67a@ZhardcorecC Are you saying you don't know Christ is the Son? Hanging your hat on "peter was given direct revelation" is laughable. Everyone who proclaims Christ was given the same revelation...pre and post this passage.
@HabitualLinest If baptism was "everything" you'd have a point. Baptism is something included in "everything"
We can know somethings about baptism. Do we know everything God knows? No!
@theo_bruv Serious question for you.
When someone ask me how can 3 things be 1. I say I don't know everything to know about the Trinity as I think it is beyond our reach but God did give us math and 1x1x1=1 which might give us evidence that it is possible.
Am I off base?
@DustinAshWrites Where is Christ in your comment? Almost every Roman Catholic I read on here neglects Christ and focuses on their church. No where in scripture does the bible say the church saves anyone. Christ is the gate.
@pringle_patrice@anahnemoo "Scripture came from the Catholic Church"...are you sure about that?
I was under the impression the Holy Spirit was responsible.
I know I pull a lot of weight and can change the entire landscape of X with my 6 followers so please please please stop calling Roman Catholics "Catholics". There needs to be distinction as the catholic church is the body of believers which has little to do with Rome.
@beetle67a@ZhardcorecC You mean this passage where your "pope" was called satan for setting his mind of the things of man just 5 verses later?
I am incapable of believing that. Especially when "Christ the Son of God" is clearly referenced as the rock which the church is built on in the passage.
@SawtelleAn5682 Jesus returned in judgement in 70ad just as He said he would. Judgement language is all over scripture and Christ was using it in that instance.
