The 🇦🇪 United Arab Emirates (#UAE) will tender shortly for the construction of a new nuclear power plant that would double the number of the small Gulf state's nuclear reactors.
The UAE, a #US security partner, became the first #Arab state to operate a nuclear power plant when in 2021 it opened in the #SouthKorean-built #Barakah facility in #AbuDhabi.

#SouthAfrica contributes approximately 20% of the world's medical #radioisotopes, facilitated by its research reactor, SAFARI 1. Nuclear research reactors play a significant role in advancing knowledge, which is vital for a country's nuclear developments.

Some Southeast Asian nations, including 🇮🇩 #Indonesia and the 🇵🇭 #Philippines, 🇻🇳 #Vietnam, are exploring the possibility of incorporating #nuclearenergy. While nuclear plants can generate reliable, emissions-free energy, investing requires thorough research and expertise. Emerging nuclear energy nations should build robust R&D programs to enable #safe, sustainable sectors. Strong #RnD develops critical knowledge and best practices for operations and regulation. As Indonesia and the Philippines lack decades of focused nuclear R&D like 🇰🇷 #SouthKorea's, tapping into South Korean expertise could allow efficient, safe adoption. Only few countries can match South Korea's 35+ years of focused nuclear energy R&D. Tapping into South Korean expertise would allow #ASEAN to adopt nuclear power more efficiently and safely.

Major #nuclear victory today at the EU Parliament!
A clear majority today voted in favor of recognizing nuclear power as a net-zero technology within the Net-Zero Industry Act.
What is this all about? I’ll explain.🧵👇
Last year I neglected to properly highlight Dustin et al's great paper when I referenced it in "The ABC of Battery Storage" at @4thGenBlog.
Adding batteries is a financial cost. Its also a materials cost which pushes up LCA emissions.
Still not enough literature on this.
...which was the same excited over-promising which Li-ion's been saddled with for over a decade, as I explored for @4thGenBlog https://t.co/W4SsLKQiPY

@TerrestrialMSR@RRapier@4thGenBlog The world is moving towards nuclear. With the Akkuyu NPP, Turkiye will be inside the nuclear energy group. Aiming 20GW of nuclear power by 2050, Turkiye is determined to hit the target. Know more about the Turkish nuclear sector at #TNBP2023. 📜https://t.co/1spkhfN3Cy
