“begging” is dramatic, i calmly asked u for an example because YOU made the comparison in the first place and wanted to continue the conversation. and u also kept “begging” for an example to a comparison u made.. and i don’t really agree with ur example either. saying women are “very forgiving and lenient towards women that have done crimes” is a massive generalisation, and the fact that u can think of some women who have defended other women doesn’t establish that women as a whole are more lenient towards female criminals. women absolutely do condemn other women for crimes, and there are plenty of cases where women have received extremely serious sentences, including life imprisonment and the death penalty in jurisdictions where it applies. men also sometimes receive comparatively lenient sentences for serious crimes, so i don’t think u can just use sentencing or individual reactions as proof that women collectively excuse female wrongdoing. and i think ur making a different argument now about women “feeding negative stereotypes.” i don’t think women are obligated to “dial it back” simply because men might respond to criticism by becoming misogynistic. if a woman says “men” in the context of discussing a behaviour that is actually predominantly committed by men, and men respond with “NOT ALL MEN” instead of engaging with what she’s actually saying, why is the responsibility placed on women to stop talking about it rather than on men to stop taking a criticism of a group behaviour as a personal attack? because that’s the exact thing i’m talking about. when women criticise men for something, there’s often a whole response of “not me, not all men, you hate men, you’re a man hater,” instead of other men simply acknowledging the criticism and separating themselves from the behaviour. but when women push back against misogyny, suddenly we’re supposedly responsible for “feeding the stereotype” if we don’t make ourselves smaller and softer about it. and i’m not saying women should be allowed to be misogynistic towards every single man alive or that every man deserves criticism. i’m saying the same standard should apply both ways. if u think women should “dial it back” because some men may become sexist in response, then why isn’t the solution also for men to dial back the misogyny that women are responding to? why is the burden on the people pushing back against the stereotype rather than the people reinforcing it? and u also said minorities “believe that because they are the minority and have suffered more, they have every right to be as vile and as bad as the men they hate.” that’s an enormous generalisation in itself 😭 u can criticise specific women or specific feminist rhetoric without turning it into a claim about what women or minorities collectively believe. that’s literally the same kind of generalisation we were just discussing.
😭😭😭 omg ur not serious but yes if women are genuinely the majority of people doing something negative, then obviously “women” can be used to refer to that majority in the same way i’m saying “men” can. that has literally never been my point of disagreement. my point is that the majority has to actually exist in the context being discussed, and the wording/context matters. that’s why i’m asking u to give me an actual example for the comparison YOU’RE making. i’ve already given u one for my point, and u keep asking me for another instead of answering the question i’m asking u
but ur literally just refusing to answer 😭 i’ve already given u an example and explained exactly what point it was making. YOU’RE the one making the comparison that “men” saying “women” works the exact same way because women are the majority in certain cases, so i’m asking u to demonstrate that claim. “promise i’ll show u mine if u show me yours” isn’t an argument 😭😭 childish
holy moly …. the point of my example was to show that when women say “men”, they aren’t necessarily referring to every single man, especially when the men being referred to are the majority doing the thing being discussed. u then asked me for another example where women ARE the majority, which is a separate question. i’m now asking u to give me an example for the comparison YOU’RE making. if ur argument is that men saying “women” works the exact same way because women are the majority in certain cases, then show me a case where that actually applies. i’m not saying women can never be the majority to something, so idk why u keep treating my example as though that’s what i’m claiming.
@fullmetalconc they way most of them are still being in denial despite being given proof💀 plus i still i don’t understand how a game made ppl this mad just because lucia was shooting with one hand😭😭
but that’s literally the point 😭 i already gave u an example of the type of situation i’m talking about, and ur response was to ask me for another one. i’m now asking u to give me an example for the comparison YOU’RE making. u can’t keep saying “i’ll give u one once u give me another” when i’ve already answered ur original question. if ur argument is that men saying “women” can work the exact same way because women are the majority in certain cases, then show me one. i’m not saying “women can never be the majority”, i’m asking u to actually demonstrate the comparison ur making.
no sean 😭 what i mean is when women say “men” they mean the majority of them who do bad, not normal ones. this isn’t about women being exempt from the same criticism, it’s about “if ur a feminist u can’t say u hate men” and that’s what i’m trying to oppose. i’m not saying women who do those same things are fine, i’m saying “men” in that context isn’t necessarily referring to every single man
that’s not how that works lol, me not giving u another example on demand doesn’t prove the inverse isn’t true. i gave u an example of the exact situation i was talking about, and now i’m asking u to do the same for ur argument. “i could show u one” isn’t an example. show me one. and saying the examples u’ve come up with “come off as misogynistic” doesn’t prove anything either. if something is actually misogynistic, then obviously that’s a separate issue, but simply saying something negative about women doesn’t automatically make it misogynistic. whether the statement is factually true and whether it’s being said out of prejudice against women are two different things.
are u actually even trying to have a conversation. this isn’t a competition. u asked for an example and i’ve provided u one. now i’m asking u for an example from ur point where women are the majority. if ur argument is that men saying “women” can also refer to a majority, then show me an example where that actually applies
@Sonic_zip@maramarvellous_ recently there’s tweets going round about how women are killing children (not abortion wise), when clearly we aren’t the majority who do so
