Russia just made a major move in mining regulation.

The government has approved a decree requiring all legal miners to register the IP addresses of their ASIC equipment in the Federal Tax Service registry.

Previously, the registry tracked model, serial number, hashrate, power consumption, algorithm, pool, and mining volume. Now IP addresses are added to the list.

Three goals behind the change:

→ Detecting illegal mining farms by cross-referencing pool activity with registry data — no more physical inspections needed

→ Power grid stability — energy operators now get registry access to predict load and prevent outages (after incidents in Dagestan and Irkutsk)

→ Law enforcement — the Central Bank and courts can access the data, but it stays classified

What it means for miners:

If you're already registered — update your records with static IPs. Dynamic IP users will need to either switch to static or keep updating regularly.

For industrial-scale operations with hundreds of machines, this adds paperwork. But the measure isn't restrictive — it's accounting.

HOW I ALMOST LOST MY TELEGRAM ACCOUNT WORTH TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS

I have been in crypto since 2013. Seen every type of scam -- phishing, rug pulls, fake exchanges, fake "Binance support." I was 100% sure nobody could fool me.

I was wrong.

Regular evening in Moscow. Sitting at home, minding my own business. Unknown number calls. I usually decline, but this time I picked up.

On the line -- the sweetest old lady from the "building management company":

"Hello Evgeny! Tomorrow they are replacing the intercom in your building. How many keys do you need? The access code is also changing -- a robot will call you with two options, just pick the one you like."

Intercom. Keys. A voice like your neighbor from downstairs. My brain did not even flinch.

A second later -- a robot calls. Mechanical voice, like a bank verification system. Dictates five digits. I write them down. Calls again -- five more digits. Got it.

The lady calls back: "So, dear, which code do you prefer?"

I calmly say one of the "codes."

Then came the three longest seconds of my life.

My phone EXPLODES with notifications. Telegram: "Login attempt detected." I open it -- EMAIL ALREADY CHANGED. They were ready. They were waiting for that code like a sniper waits for the shot.

Those "intercom codes" were Telegram authorization codes.

I reacted on pure instinct. Settings, terminate all sessions, change email, enable 2FA. Fingers shaking, heart in my throat. Made it. BARELY.

What was at stake? Gifts, Stars, NFT collections -- worth tens of thousands of dollars. All channels, chats, business contacts, access keys. One minute of delay -- and everything is gone.

Why this works even on paranoid people:

-- Mundane story. Intercom, keys, building management. Your brain does not trigger danger mode
-- "Grandma" voice. Zero pressure, zero rush. Trust is built subconsciously
-- Robot with digits. Mimics a legitimate process. You do not think it is a Telegram code
-- YOU say the code out loud. You do not enter anything, do not tap anything. Feels completely safe

What to do RIGHT NOW:

- Enable two-factor authentication in Telegram (password + cloud password)
- Never share digits from SMS or calls -- to ANYONE
- "Intercom codes" over the phone -- that is not a real thing
- If someone calls asking for numbers -- hang up immediately

I got lucky. But luck does not last forever.
